Could we be seeing a reunion of Peter and Carlie?

Ironic that Slott has a good chance to make something that could compare favorably to the main book, after years of his own run being contested by comparison to secondary titles.

Honestly can't even blame ya, the list of dumb shit Slott did with, about everyone, it's noticeable.

    (ASM#13 vol 4)

It's also weird Slott made Spidey talk like he was shy around MJ, when that never actually happened... Seriously, Slott has a lot of cumulative knowledge and says stuff like that, it wouldn't be so bad if he understood the spirit of ASM better, but uh, yeah...

Also, right before his run ended, he made MJ be interested in being with Spidey again:

    (ASM#796)

Only for her to change her mind in the very next issue and be like "Nope, can't do it, out of my house".

    (ASM#797)

Nothing says good writing like making a character change her opinion on whether or not she likes Peter's Spider-Man side with absolutely no reasoning given for those changes... Seriously, even back when I was catching up with Spidey and didn't really know/remember what the characterizations/relationships were like, so much shit felt off that I was wondering if I just couldn't enjoy comic books just because I wasn't liking Slott's run for the most part, reading Marvel Adventures Spider-Man made me realize I just don't like Slott's writing lol.

Hey, you don't know how long this run will turn out to be...I can see Slott wanting to try for the consecutive issue record again.
Sure, but I meant that maybe there's a timeline out there where he didn't stop writing ASM even after #801, staying in it for 10 more years.

Adding it to the list! Thanks (I think...)!

The babies were said to have been killed during a demon invasion (The soldiers were in Limbo and one of them was dumb enough to bring some amulet to the base they were staying in, which attracted Witchfire and she attacked the base with her demons), and all I could think from that was "Classic Wells", then, it turned out they were only believed to be dead, as the same issue shows them alive and many years older, so that was unnexpected, maybe there's a chance Paul's kids won't be eaten, or killed in any way... On the other hand, Dark Web is nearby, Madelyne is becoming queen of Limbo, and her and children don't have a nice story, and I think Wells will be writing Dark Web, so uh, yeah, there's gonna be plenty of kid eating candidates and the kids will be lucky if they survive this run...

If ASM right now is still as bad as ASM#1 vol 6, then man, Slott will need to make actual effort to be worse.

Like, at least he's uh, less insultingly boring I guess? Not as mean spirited sometimes? Urgh...

Itís a fact, we are living in truly the absolute worst timeline.
Literally everything written here is spot on.

Itís such a shame that during Spider-Manís 60th, this is where weíre at.

You're not the only one. He has fun ideas, in a "let's build a LEGO playset" kind of way. His execution is...lacking.

Spider-Verse is the most mean-spirited and spiteful thing I've ever had the misfortune to read. Like, the story went purposefully out of its way to actively spit on fan-favorite characters. Superior was also mean-spirited. In fact, Slott's treatment of MJ - and I'd include other female characters, from May to Carlie - is highly mean-spirited. And IMO the Scorpio and Parker Industries stories actively insulted my intelligence as a reader. I've luckily locked most of his run out of my memory.

I'd take Wells over Slott if I had to chose. The mystery box is highly annoying and he's writing for the trade collection so the pacing is excruiating for monthly readers; his Peter and Mary Jane are very badly drawn, in part because Wells is trying so hard to keep the lid on the mystery box he's forgotten to give them motivations or to provide reasons for the reader to care or root for them. But so far, it's been more entertaining than a Slott run; Tombstone is fun if drawing all the focus away from Peter in his own book, and the dialogue - with the exception of the arch elliptic conversations to keep the mystery box lid screwed on tight - is far more natural and fun to read than Slott's.

I'd rather take neither, of course.

Okay, but is Morlun going to flip the script and manage to actually be a compelling character this time around? 'cuz my chips right now are on "No".

The only time Morlun's ever been good was his first appearance.

On one hand it's nice to have a satellite again finally with storied Spidey creators at the helm, on the other it'd be nice to get some fresh blood for once. Everybody doing Spidey generally has already done the character in some form before.

I'm still waiting for Jed McKay to get a proper Spider-Book that's not starring Black Cat.

I still don't understand why editors allowed this and made it canon. This is terrible.

Same. Would love to see him on a Spider-Man book. His Black Cat books are terrific and his "Mary Jane and Black Cat" will probably end up being one of the best issues of the year.

Slott's one of my least favorite Peter writers so him writing Peter again does nothing for me. Watch this "Chosen One" constantly need help or get regularly checked or insulted. I mean, even the description makes it sound like the old constant team-ups or Spider-Team books with all the heroes they list and Peter having what's coming to him.

And I just can't muster any enthusiasm for Morlun or whatever this new villain is like

I hope Baglet's on his a-game at least artwise.
With the spider-verse sequels coming in 2023 and 2024, I honestly doubt this is the end of any spider-verse even if marvel keep hyping it up. Especially with all the new Spiders they are introducing..

Congrats to Marvel for doing maximum immersion so the fans can enjoy Spidey's misery porn life .
    This was Spencer right?

He went hard on this throughout his run and in the end they pulled the ol' Montreal screwjob.

But on the topic at hand, why can't Marvel take risks with other writers I mean that's the point of these satellite books
