Maybe the repercussions of the Gala are too scandalous to show us!

EDIT: Whoops, I see it was posted.

Hopefully he is established as something other than the basic side charchter to another's messiah story.

As a decades-long reader I am enjoying this book and the Krakoan era because it is making a lot of X-lore make sense.

Case in point: Exodus. I never understood his appeal. This looks like it will add some substance to his characterless “extreme 90s” aesthetic-as-origin.

He seems kinda destined for cultish devotion. As a Knight Templar he chased the Holy Grail. In that preview, it looks like he’s granted a vision of the giant space chicken.

I was really looking forward to this issue but associating the Exodus character with any part of the Phoenix mythos is extremely disappointing(But inevitable I guess because of the Hope issue). I still can't believe how much Marvel has bastardized the Phoenix. Exodus is already a fairly thin character so saddling him with the creatively bankrupt Phoenix plot device isn't inspiring a lot of confidence, nor is it the direction I wanted to see Gillen take the character. Maybe he can pull it off though.

If Gillen does imbue Exodus with the Phoenix Force, as with every other character that's been an avatar for it, I have a feeling it will only be a temporary bonding. We'll see.
Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

The ultimate hype man. But I think that was an alternate future, one that is definately not going to happen. I dont mind him revering someone as saviour, but it being his entire personality trait this era kinda disappoints me. You will think there would be more to an immortal ex crusader who used to do a lot of evil things in the name of God. Maybe his pov issue will shed light on that.

But seeing the pheonix in the desert has to be some poetic cosmic joke of some sorts, I actually chuckled when I saw it.

    That's what I thought too.

Can't help but agree, I have my own fanfic idea of how the PF is part of the Exodus story but not the ultimate focus of it,but yeah guess Gillen is set on hinging his character on the PF. If the emphasis is on the PF entity as distinct from any earthly host and having its own corporeal form that Exodus has seen or interacted with and Exodus doesn't just become another derivative vessel ,it could be interesting. I won't speculate until the issue is out. I think Gillen with his past story of the Phoenix five could hint that the PF could be split between Hope,Jean and Racheal with Exodus probably trying to get Krakoa and the world to worship the new 'trinity' as sort of herald of the age of the Phoenix..I may be jumping the gun ,but seems to me in J.Day when he was stopped mid sentence Exodus wants Sinister off the QC so that he put the vacant seat to a new vote to get Rachael and Jean (eventually) on the council.

Gillen refers to Exodus as a foil,is he a foil to Kurt or a foil to the Eternals? (who under the current narrative come off as 'protectors' of humanity from deviation) Exodus could be the guy that Gillen wants to put at the other end of the extreme with a peek of the mutant church empire he helps form in an alternate reality (whether it has room for humans in it is anyone's guess)

It occurs to me that Exodus will probably be the means by with Echo gets ‘synergised’ in time for her show. And I don’t just mean loss of the Phoenix

Please elaborate, also I saw a prominent art of an avenger story after axe and it looks like pheonix echo is still alive and kicking.

I may be wrong ,but I doubt Exodus himself will ever be a Phoenix host. Saying that, if the Phoenix knew beforehand that that his powers grow with increased faith..it choosing to reveal itself to him is not random.

Usually yes, but not always. Rachel was fine the first time she hosted and the PF left her. Same with the Cuckoos. Infact they were less damaged afterwards.

I hope he doesn't. He's already been augmented by Apocalypse, he doesn't need another level up. But interesting how they are using this imagery of the PF to mean something of important to Exodus but when Rachel used it during her psi-battle with him he was unfazed.
