This was my 3rd read of this batch of issues, and probably won't be my last.

I've continued on with the next arc 'Love & Death', and things really pick up. If anyone hasn't read it, I highly recommend you keep going!

I reread for the CBR book club the saga of the swamp thing.book one.
Which contains issues of Saga of the Swamp Thing 20-27.
The plot is quite sophisticated, starting with the retcon of the main character in the second story of the book.
And the stories keep interesting in this book.
These horror and thriller stories for mature readers published before there were Vertigo stories are peculiar because I had an idea of more traditional fictional stories by D.C. Comics at this time.
The narration is interesting in these stories with plots that are continued in the following books of Alan Moore's swamp thing stories.

Should we start looking at August choices?

I would love to read the first run of Miracle Man or the original Stormwatch.

I'm down for either. One question is how long we want the books under consideration to be?

By Stormwatch, are you talking about Warren Ellis' run or something else?

Good point. I started a new thread to discuss selection choices, before we do any poll.

I was thinking a run of Stormwatch or Miracle Man. Stormwatch “Lightning Strikes”, or maybe “Change or Die”. With Miracle Man, the first trade, “A Dream of Flying.” From the old choices I have read Metabarons and some Bat Manga.

Weird thing I learned today in Neil Gaiman's interview for the Marc Maron podcast: Matthew the Raven is supposed to be the reincarnation of Matthew Cable, Abigail's husband. So he gets a quiet redemption arc after the bad things he does in this volume.

That is interesting, I had never heard that.

That's something I heard/found out as I was reading the Sandman comic at the time (I think it was mentioned in the letters pages of the Sandman, which were as often as interesting as the issue itself). I think I 've known it so long I had begun to take for granted every Sandman fan knew it, but I should have known better as evidenced by this thread.

I remember making that connection but I wonder why? Matthew Cable is not a very sympathetic character.

I think that may be exactly why Gaiman chose to redeem him (sort of). Both he and Delano were slated to take over the Swamp Thing monthly as co-writers at one point; I always liked to think that that plot point was a holdover that wouldn't been fully explored had they not left the project before it even began.
