I'd add Gerry Duggan to the list.

This is the part that does stand out to me. Only because imo overall i think Williams X-factor and Trial of Magneto were over all better received and were much more exciting concepts and added to the mythos. So while that's not on howard at all it is a bit of a head scratcher.

Honestly just let Al Ewing take Betsy to be with Magneto and Storm.

I don’t dislike Tini Howard but these books have not been the best and I have to ask though, who decided Knights of X needed to only be five issues? Howard who originally planned this as just an arc in Excalibur and decided it needed a new name to make it more important or impactful? Editorial either not having faith or deciding to try the Trial of Magneto experiment all over again?

I will agree that it does feel more than a little ridiculous that this books has gotten so many chances while X-factor got screwed over and dumped into oblivion.

In a podcast with Gillen, she said she had the option of keeping it as Excalibur or rebranding it for a potential sales boost. Clearly it didn't work because the first issue didn't even crack the Top 50 in the sales ranking.

What I'm so confused about is if it was always meant to be a mini because I remember someone noticing on Amazon waaaaay back that it was listed as "of 5". So to change the title when it was only to be another 5 issues is beyond weird.

I guess it's a matter of sales. She-Hulk was also a listed as "1 of 5", but got more issues solicited now.

Now that you mention it. It is kind of annoying that X-Factor got treated the way it did but this writer keeps getting to rebrand even though sales are showing that its not helping.

Its time for someone else to get the chance to write her.

Hopefully she completes the story she wanted to tell.

I’ve said it before, I will forever have beef with the X-Office over this. Not only is Tini getting chance after chance, but Spurrier seems to be getting the same despite the fact that his books consistently sold worse than X-Factor.

It's striking how Williams was treated compared to Howard. Including editorial shenanigans with Trial of Magneto. I know X-Factor wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but IMO Williams was much better than Howard.

Ok, I get not liking Howard's writing, but like, she did write a successful 26-issue ongoing and co-ran a hugely successful summer X-event, financially speaking. It's not like she's been utterly failing sales wise. KoX obviously didn't do great, but it (and Legion and NM) also got more fucked by the paper delays than any other X-books while it already had some of the least name recognition in its title.

And everyone saying that other characters are being used to prop Betsy.

Betsy is not propped AT ALL when written by TH.

She's written generic and whiny and like she doesnt know how to use her powers. She's trying too hard to fullfill this Captain Britain persona.
I agree with you. She feels so so generic. Bland. And she should be a powerhouse with all the CB powers plus her own and she keeps just punching and swinging a sword. Sometimes flying. One of the best aspects of Betsy for me is her clever use of her powers. Also her personality.

I hope this new book is a compete twist from all we've been getting so far.

As for who joins her, I hope they keep it a small cast. Either the STRIKE gang, just the Baddocks or people really close to her like Rachel, Kwannon, Storm, Dazzler, Kurt, Logan...

And please...another uniform. They still did not get it right.
A picture would last longer darling...

Is Betsy really close to Kwannon? I didn't read all of Fallen Angel's but Kwannon didn't seem like she was going to be sending any holiday cards anytime soon. Are they close or just accepting of one another?

And as for her powerset I still don't know what her power are after 29ish issues.
