Theory: Emma telepathically rugs the vote to get Firestar on the team to piss off both Firestar (who doesn’t want to be on the team) and Scott (who has to deal with someone who doesn’t want to be on the team). If so, it’s a brilliant plan by Emma.

Has Firestar ever wanted to be on a team? She spent half her stint on the Avengers complaining that she didn't want to be an Avenger and only did it because her boyfriend wanted to join, and the first big team shot of "New Warriors" has her looking depressed saying "I really don't know about this..."

I remember seeing an interview about how George Pérez (RIP) didn't really get to like drawing Firestar until the plot called for her to be happy, and it was like the 12th issue of the run where he finally was given a reason for her to smile. I can identify with her a lot.

Sure, just like she eventually got to like being an Avenger. It's just that her thing seems to be that she always goes in thinking she doesn't really want to be there.
