I think this cover best depicts the Steampunk of this series.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Dang-it Tami, I figured I'd be the only one here who remembered that series.

Actually, you are. Most of the ones that fit this theme that I was familiar with had been taken, so I did a search and found this. Of course, now I have to find a way to read it.

I still have several issues in my collection. As I recall it was pretty good. There was a series related to it called Teknophage that was pretty interesting too. Art by Brian Talbot I think.

Some of those Gaiman series with Tekno Comics were rereleased as trades just a couple of years back by another publisher. I know our local library had gotten them in as they order anything Gaiman related, so they may still be available to order some places. I had some of those when they came out, but I think the only Tekno series I still have is the Mickey Spillane Mike Danger stuff.

Tigers and Traitors is the title of the second part of a 2-volume 1880 novel by Jules Verne that is collectively titled The Steam House (La Maison à vapeur). It's the story of a group of British colonials in India who undertake a journey in a mechanical, wheeled house that is pulled by a mechanical, steam-powered elephant.

Here is an illustration from the original 1880 novel.

Naturally, Doctor Doom has tried out this look..... art by the underrated Patrick Zircher.
