    Default Immortal X-Men #4 review

Most of the good stuff is at the end of the issue.

Starts with Emma waking up in the middle of the night in her diamond form. She monologues about herself for a couple pages and then they show the Daily Bugle front page about mutants being immortal. Following page before the title drop shows Emma in her work suit covered in blood.

After the title page, we see Emma meeting with the politician talking about whether Krakoa would make resurrection available to flatscans. The talk is interrupted by a protestor who throws a bucket of sheep blood on Emma, who scans the protestor's mind and finds out that her husband recently died in a boating accident. Later, Emma thinks to herself that the public knowing about the resurrections needs to go away but they have something else to worry about.

Next day, there's a council meeting about allowing flatscans to access the resurrection protocols. Sinister agrees because he'll get to tamper with humans. Xavier interrupts to inform them that a human injected themselves with Mutant Growth Hormone and then committed suicide thinking the mutants would bring him back to life. Exodus and Mystique are like "GG" and Nightcrawler tells them to have some empathy but Emma interrupts them to show them Cyclops' memories of his encounter with Doctor Stasis/Mr. Sinister 2: Sinister Harder.

Sinister panics and dips. The other council members try to stop him but he manages to get to a gate to his lab. Destiny shows up and tells him "Don't be a coward" but the gets past her and into the gate. Sinister is about to kill a Moira clone to reset the timeline but he remembers Destiny's words and realizes Destiny probably knows about his Moira plan so he doesn't go through with it.

Apparently he does a "fresh install" of himself (?) , there's some out of place mention of Oscar Wilde and he decides to turn himself in. However before he's arrested, he's "beamed" away. The X-Men don't even bother to do anything cuz the next page is Emma going to bed.

Next issue is Judgement Day. ugh.

What a good comic. It has been good to see a little of how Emma thinks. I'm even hyped for Exodus. EXODUS!

Most clever use of Irene that I've ever read. How do you stop Sinister from burning the timeline? Make him think you know something he doesn't. That mask is an excellent pokerface.

I am getting kind of tired of Emma constantly going after Sinister, though. He called her an inferior replacement to a certain redhead a few times, and deemed her unworthy of killing personally, during his regrettable days as nation of evil duplicates of himself (coincidentally also written by Kieron Gillen). Just how long is she going to hold a grudge?

It was an alright issue. We didn't really learn anything new about Emma, but we saw her building resentment. That's going to end poorly for someone, maybe Xavier? Sinister seemed to confirm that there is probably also a heart and spade series of Sinisters. Not sure how I feel about that potential rogue clone storyline for him, I'll see how it shakes out, definitely more interested if it's being guided by Gillen rather than Duggan. The issue ended pretty abruptly. Looking forward to the Exodus issue.

I enjoyed this and continue to enjoy Emma's depiction this week. I wish they would have gotten further in the conversation about humans and the protocols but the Sinister situation needed to be put on the table as Stasis is an immediate threat.

    Sinister harder. LOL. "I'm Brian!"

The ONLY thing of interest to me in this issue was is Krakoa male or female. The machine that is earth says male, and well the machine knows everything but characters repeatedly call Krakoa she. So which is it? Other than that the rest is exactly what i anticipated after reading issue 1 so nothing really new to add.

It'd be great if there was still a Sinister London out there propping up Essex's outdated views. We never did learn what happened to the Sinister who killed and replaced Scott's poor publicist, Storm rest her departed soul.

UGH, Sinister DUDE!! someone please deal with him.

I LOVE Exodus. "Kill him" I'm excited to see his side of things.

All in all I really liked this Issue. It surprised me. Not a fan of Emma, but this issue made me LIKE EMMA...yuck.

Would Shaw vote for execution if he knew about the meat ship?

I don't think Krakoa's ever been referred to as female, characters as far as I can recall always refer to Krakoa as 'he' and Arakko as 'she'? Could be wrong though.

I could be wrong but i vaguely remember Magick referring to Krakoa as a she maybe in new mutants. And one more occurrence i can't remember the specifics about at all.

Though it may have been in infinity. i read the first 41 issues in like two days so a bit of a blur.

I didn't find this issue as interesting as the Destiny or Hope issues, though that's probably because Emma's characterization is more well treaded ground. Still, the characterization was spot on, and I loved the sleeping in diamond form thing. I never thought about that as a use for her powers.

Another great issue of Immortal. This really is a Sinister book. I was surprised to see the Dr. Stasis stuff brought up here. I hope this book's quality survives Judgement Day, but I'm hopeful.
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

Definitely the worst issue of the series so far. It's not bad, just banal. A poster above had it right. This just wasn't that interesting because this "insight" into Emma's character offered nothing new. We knew all this before so it just came off as superficial and stale. Gillen couldn't have done better than this? I DID like that Emma exposed Sinister and we FINALLY got some movement on that plot. I can't believe it's taken this long for the QC to move against him. Better late than never I guess though. I hope the Exodus issue is superior to this very weak effort.
