I think the end of Knights of X will open up the roster for most of those mutants from that team. Other than that, it will be whatever scraps are leftover from the editorial knife fights at Marvel. I doubt public opinion holds much sway with them. These decisions are finalized long before they open it up to voting.

Yeah, if Kamala is retconned as a mutant and joins the X-Men, that won't be because of a vote. They'd just write it as Scott inviting his old Champions teammate to join them.

Look at how this year's was done. The actual vote winner Firestar was added to Cyclops, Marvel Girl and Synch. Cyclops asked Forge to join, who in turn asked for Havok to be on the team. Then you had Iceman saying if Firestar was in, so was he. And Magik just insisted on being there. It's not all down to the vote.

None. Because i don't expect there to be one next year.

It's a bad idea in general because of how it puts an expiration date on a team, harming the potential enthusiam readers might have for the characters while also making it clear that some are just there to fill pannel space or provide their powers.

Not to forget that the future of this X-men book is uncertain allready and might not be around for another year.

Likewise it feels like the whole Gala and X-men election event as a yearly concept are allready hitting dimishing returns.

If this week's "election" results are any indication, were the list you provided brought to the public for "voting", the winner would be Gambit or Cable, easy.

The fact that the popular winner is gone after 12 issues really reduces the impact of the voting, because it's clear now Duggan will get rid of whoever that is the first chance he gets.

Also, going by how they make their choices, next group of nominees will have 5 NXM kids, a couple of obscure characters, a couple of fan favorites from the comics, and then someone that appeared on movies or TV and JDW will say he's surprised that one won.
