    Default Favorite Lines in Film..

So we had a thread about the best villain quotes, and one asking if you could change a line in a movie what would it be.

They got me thinking about my favorite over all lines in a movie. Be it from a hero, villain, side character.

I have 3 that I can think of off the top of my head.

The first is in A Miracle on 34th Street.

In the judges chamber during the trial his Political Advisor played by the Great William Frawley

"If you go out there and declare there is no Santa Claus you can count on two votes, Yours and the District Attorneys." The judge looks sad and answers

"The District Attorney is a Republican."

The next is in the 1999 movie Inherit the Wind. it was George C Scotts last Role. The line comes right after his character has a heart attack in the courtroom and dies.

The reporter asks "How do you write an obituary for a man who died 20 years ago."

The third was from the Movie A Time To Kill. after the jury is selected an All White jury Sam L Jackson character Carl Lee Hailey says "A Jury of my Peers." Oliver Platt who plays Harry Rex just kind of looks on dryly and says "God Bless America."

So what are you favorite lines?

a line from the film Dirty Harry

"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk?"

Gimli: "Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an elf."
Legolas: "What about side by side with a friend?"
Gimli: "Aye. I could do that."

Pulp Fiction: "Ezekiel 25:17… The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee
With great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers
And you will know my name is the Lord
When I lay my vengeance upon thee"

    Armed and Dangerous (1986)
[criminal defense atty Kane with a threatening client facing charges of armed robbery, assaults, resisting arrest, kidnapping, and extortion]
Norman Kane (Eugene Levy): Your Honor, may I approach the bench.
Norman Kane (Eugene Levy): He didn't mean it, Your Honor.
Judge: You call that plea bargaining? Where the hell did you go to law school?

Judge : Mr. Kane, you are one of the worst lawyers I've ever known.
Norman Kane (Eugene Levy): Well, then I move for a mistrial.

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

    - Charles Halloway: Sometimes a man can learn more from other men's dreams than he can from his own.”

    From the otherwise 'meh' Street Fighter film;

Chun-Li: My father saved his village at the cost of his own life. You had him shot as you ran away. A hero at a thousand paces.
    M. Bison: I'm sorry. I don't remember any of it.
    Chun-Li: You don't remember?!
Bison: For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Pretty much most lines from Batman as I watched this movie so many times, I practically know almost all the lines.

Also, this line and scene from this movie called Talk Radio which I thought was pretty profound.

The good ol' "I've seen things, you people wouldn't believe" death soliloquy from Blade Runner.

I mean, come on, what a moving performance.

Well John Candy had one of my favorites in Splash:

"Hey babe! I got a twelve inch penis." (In Swedish)

And then there is Eugene Levy in Splash:

“I'm really a nice guy. If I had friends you could ask them.”

Then there is Stan the Tour Guide, also in Splash:

“Welcome to the Statue of Liberty. The Statue is a gift from French citizens and has come to symbolize hope for naked women everywhere.”
