Mad Magazine, Cracked or National Lampoon in the 70s/80s?

I read Mad as a kid in the 60s, absolutely loved Don Martin.
In the 70s I turned to National Lampoon. Not so much in the 80s.
I still have the High School Year Book and The Encyclopedia of Humor, with the great Bernie Wrightson cover.

I loved the October 1971 issue of National Lampoon, which included a 15-page parody of Mad. In particular, they ran a Mort Drucker-style movie parody titled "Citizen Gaines" that of course was a parody of a parody, well done. All of the art work on that parody issue did a great job of duplicating the styles of Mad's leading creators.

Mad was the work of geniuses. Warped and demented geniuses, but geniuses nonetheless.

I loved everything about MAD, but especially Dave Berg's "The Lighter Side".
