Looks interesting but did we really need another Alpha/Lydia prequel?

A cool anthology series is one I really wish Kirkman would run with or do a new Walking Dead comic series. This has some potential.

So the first episode was pretty much a generic post-apocalyptic plot as it gets. Guess they put it first because of Crew's star power?

The next episode (The Posey/Bell one) does look kind of interesting though, like some kind of Groundhog Day/Edge of Tomorrow/Run Lola Run twist.

Nah, not what I was looking for in a TWD anthology series. I tried to get into the first episode I just couldn't. Not to mention the opening them music was just god AWFUL, and totally out of place.
Rest in Peace mom, we love you and still miss you.

So this debuted August 14th. I thought it didn't debut till September.

How was the first episode anyone?

As I mentioned pretty much kind of standard as far as plot. Crews and Muun were fun but that's kind of it.

Second episode was much better but it kind of plays differently. It's been suggested that much of the episode is a hallucination-something we often see in TWD with characters who are dying, wounded, gone insane from grief or all three.

I've also seen one theory that it's related to a Star Trek concept: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki...trix_Zero-that basically what's left of the human side of the walkers are pretty much in some kind of loop while the animal parts of the brain control the Walkers locomotion, hunger etc. There have been hints in World Beyond and in the TWD previews that there are changes coming to Walker intelligence. Maybe Eugene was right about the Walkers evolving, just not about the Whisperers.

The sci-fi plot in the 2nd episode is just... awful. It doesn't fit the real world type atmosphere the overall series is going for it. It was out of place and really while funny as an episode , just didn't fit Walking Dead. There is potential to tell really good stories and all. But the 1st 2 episodes really...weren't that good.

The third episode is getting real good reviews from those who've seen it. It's of course another Alpha prequel but this one apparently focuses on her forming the Whisperers, whereas before we pretty much got how she started and then how she met Beta.

It was much better this time, felt like a more proper episode.

Although the problem is that it seems to take place before the Beta episode, with the two on their own again. I'm guessing maybe she was either scouting for the Whisperers, or perhaps had been kicked out by Hera, only to return with Beta to take out Hera and become the "alpha". It might become a future episode of this perhaps, with maybe Beta returning. Also could see Brooke return in some aspect.

I enjoyed the first ep. The story was simple but Olivia Munn and Terry Crews had good chemistry and elevated it.

The second ep. well, Parker Posey and Jillian Bell were good IN it, but the story itself was dumb.

Third ep. had a few good moments I guess. I’m not a fan of the Alpha character so was disinterested as soon as I saw her.

I liked the third episode best. Gave us more insight into where Alpha (Dee) was coming from. The second episode, I missed the first twenty minutes the first time it aired because I fell asleep, so I saw that part the following week, and I think it might play better that way.
