Default Suggestions For The TV/Film Forum

    I've been wondering:

-do you all want separate 'spoiler thread' and a spoiler free thread for any of the upcoming shows?

-should there be a sticky thread listing all the threads for the more popular shows/movies?

If there are any other suggestions for improving user experience, let me know.

I suspect that this forum will be very busy given all the upcoming content.

I have a suggestion, or rather a rule that apparently went "inactive" a reboot or two ago.

If someone starts a thread, shouldn't they be the first to talk about it? Example: if I start a thread "Name some of the lamest movie deaths in history!" shouldn't *I* be the first to get the ball rolling with at least ONE movie death *I* think is lame?

In fact, that's exactly what you did, instead of simply saying "Post your suggestions for the TV/Film Forum".

But...I suppose its a case of not enough manpower to, well, "police" that.

As to your example. Well...maybe. That kinda goes back to my original example, not enough manpower to police certain things. People either don't know how to do spoiler tags or insist on doing something "cute" like hide it behind white text. So maybe a separate spoiler thread for all things (movies, TV shows, etc) is best.

For movies I think there need to be spoiler and non spoiler threads. For shows it's trickier. Shows that air episodes, you figure people who saw the last one are talking about it. But streaming, well we all watch at different speeds, once it drops, you figure the thread is full of spoilers. But if you are in the middle of the show, how do you come to a thread to just talk about the episode you saw without the rest being ruined. On the other hand, once the show drops, what is their to talk about without spoilers?
I go to another forum that breaks it down to individual episodes, but that would be unworkable here.

If you mean by a sticky thread, a thread with links to popular shows, sounds like a good idea. But I don't think any show itself should be pinned.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Does it make sense at this point to have a separate MCU forum?

Well, certain things like including examples of what you're talking about in the first post of the thread, comes down to personal etiquette. EDIT: The rule you mentioned is still in effect so maybe posters need a reminder about that.

A separate spoiler thread once a movie drops (especially in countries where they come out earlier) sounds workable to me.

For tv shows, I think one thread is fine for now. Though I think people should use spoiler tags for a day or two for very recent episodes or for streaming. For me that seems to be the most workable solution for this forum.

I wondered the same thing. Something worth bringing up at some point.

A lot of MCU discussions also cross over into the Marvel Comics forum as well and it's pretty much the same people going back and forth between each sub forum.

Besides how much non-DC/Marvel shows gets discussed in this sub forum?

There really shouldn't be "sticky" threads for TV spoilers. Because there is so much TV stuff that the entire page could be nothing but spoilers for shows and your gonna be irked to scroll through that. I'd just do like what we do with Walking Dead mega thread. It has spoilers there and people can post them in spoiler tags or just discuss non spoiler stuff.

But the admins should enforce...spoiler tags in threads for TV shows and movies. Because like I said if we start doing every spoiler thread..its gonna clog up page given whats all coming out.

The other problem with sticky threads. Some shows have a lot of traffic, but it is mainly cross talk between a few members. And there are many members who don't have Disney or Paramount or Hulu or Prime. ..so as Superwfan said, a lot of sticky threads people can't join in on.

That probably works best if you move the MCU, and possibly Star Trek to separate forums as Star Wars has. Disney+ creates a lot of topic overlap between their cinema and streaming content. The ST property isn't in that league yet, but they're likely to try.

I don't think having a spoiler thread and a non spoiler thread for tv shows is necessary. Not enough people and would create too much clutter. Having a separate spoiler thread for movies can work as it will allow people who have seen the movie early to discuss it and it wouldn't bother those who want to discuss the movie but will see it later. Both threads can be merged once later on once most people have seen it.

I disagree. There are plenty of discussions that cover both where it would be a pain to have parallel discussions in two forums.

Like what? Outside of maybe the MCU shows, and even then there isn't much overlap. What is the parallel discussion to Stranger Things, The Boys, or superman and Lois?

What does separating TV threads from movie threads gain though?
