Default What was your first experience of Marvel characters?

    Hey folks!

I thought this might make for a nice thread. What was your fist exposure to Marvel characters? Mine was the Marvel Secret Wars coloring book!

^ That is the facsimile edition but I'm talking about the legit one. That coloring book was at my Nan's house as a young lad. I remember sitting at her dinner table coloring in that book. I was probably 10 or 11 at the time. It was the first time I saw Magneto, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Kang, Dr. Doom, Iron Man, Doc Ock and Captain America!

    What was it for you?

    Thanks,
    -Odd Rödney.

The cartoons of the late '70s and early '80s. Three in particular: Spider-Woman, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, and The Incredible Hulk.

The 60's Spider-Man cartoon in the early seventies in the UK. Totally hooked me.

The Hulk green chocolate syrup from the early 2000s is the first time I remember getting exposed to Marvel as a little kid. It was disgusting.

    Wanna make somethin' of it?

Probably the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon as a kid, but the first actual Marvel superhero book I ever got was Uncanny X-Men #166 the finale of the Brood Saga.

First experience xmen tas. First time I purchased for myself the black and white xmen essentials. I also had the ff essentials too. Of course that's not counting Spidey in the Sunday strip so I guess that would actually be the first first. Lol

Same here, mainly X-Men and Spider-Man, though I also liked Iron Man, Fantastic Four, and Incredible Hulk, especially once Iron Man's and Fantastic Four's second seasons came out. Real jump in quality there. I particularly loved how Spider-Man, by the end of the 90s animated series, spotlighted a lot of other great Marvel heroes in numerous guest appearances throughout its run, especially the X-Men team-up in Season 2 (with the same cast and designs from their concurrent animated series) and the Daredevil team-up in Season 3.

OMG! There were so many, but the earliest that I can remember would be the artwork of Ross Andru from ASM #134 (XD)

This or the live action Hulk series. My mom used to watch it, and while I never stuck around to watch a full episode, I certainly knew who Hulk was.

When the comics first came out in the 60s. Iron Man, FF, and Avengers in particular. I learned to read just as FF came out, so most of the comics I found were DC, but they were in there.

I’ll don the mask and wear the cape
