    Default Best & Worst Costumes

I'm in the middle of the Outback era of Uncanny X-Men and it struck me how long-lasting Havok's original costume has been, especially the slightly odd headpiece - and given teh fact that he's had arguably better costumes since. This got me thinking about costumes in general - which looks do you love and which ones do you not like at all?

My fav was that orange costume Rogue wore right after Secret Wars way back in the 80's.

Worst is Psylocke's swimsuit, that is STILL being used. Always hated it.

I think Cyclops' current costume is pretty bland. It's not terrible, just forgettable. I love his X-Factor and classic 90s looks:

An updated/modernised version of these would be great.

That's a good question. Would his mutation also count as a costume?

As for my own answer. Scott's Jim Lee outfit will always be a favorite of mine. That being said, I'm not that big a fan of Scott's first yellow and blue "skull cap" X-factor costume.

The open haired version of his X-factor costume was a big improvement.

Can I repost Dauterman's Gala looks or is that too obvious ?

Colossus : outback Era. The skimpier the better.
Iceman : current look is fine. Loved his Tom of Finland era in AoX
Havok : that X-factor semi-opened jacked was good.
Shattersar's relooking in PAD X-factor was pretty good.
Loved most of the team's outfit in the era just after that, when Polaris and Havok rejoined. Good team look.

    Northsar recent X-factor's turn.
    Rachel's X-factor's look.
    ...

is X-factor a good book for new designs, actually ?

David Baldeon's designs for the Krakoan era X-FACTOR were pretty sharp and a great team brand look. Rachel's suit never quite hit the mark consistently, and especially had trouble when not under Baldeon's hand. The loose fitting pants are hard to pull off...

    Personal faves:

    1. Northstar's X-Factor look
    2. Nightcrawler's brief touch-up in Alan Davis' Excalibur
    3. Frenzy in Ewing's S.W.O.R.D

    Honorable mentions:
Dazzler in Age of X. That one really needs to come back.
    Chamber in Spurrier's X-Men Legacy

For Rachel, I blame artists who cannot draw a woman without a thigh gap.

But I mean those were quite good.
(let's all forget the X-factor Corps yellow looks)

    My personal favorites are:

    Archangel's various Horseman themed costumes
Nightcrawler's original costume. I think that it stands the test of time better than most of the X-Men's original costumes. It really ages well. I also like Nightcrawler's current costume.
    Wolverine's brown/tan uniform
    Bishop's original costume
Polaris' costume from her stint in the most recent X-Men comic. I also really liked her costume from the Austen run on the X-Men.
Most of Magik's costumes have been pretty good
    The original Penance/Hallow design.
    Magneto's white costume

There are some other costumes that I really liked, but I wanted to try and keep my list at least a little bit small.

    My least favorite costumes are:

Just about everything that Kate Pryde has worn
    Wolverine's yellow and blue costume
    Cyclops' classic 90's uniform
Just about every costume that the 05 X-Men wore during the 60's comics
It's not a uniform, but I don't care for how Iceman looks when he is drawn all spikey looking
Havok's original costume, only because of the strange headpiece
    Quintin Quire's current costume

There are a lot of other bad uniforms that I've probably forgotten to mention. You're going to get a lot of duds when a comic has been around as long as the X-Men has. These ones just stick out as particularly bad to me.
    Just my opinions.

Keeping with the team looks train of thought, I never quite warmed up to the first round of Counter-X costumes for GENERATION X (by Steve Pugh) and X-FORCE (by Whilce Portacio), though I could appreciate what both artists were going for stylistically...

The X-Corps (not x-corp) uniforms were cool.
