Even then they can still hire out and license out if they do want to make games

The problem is if they don't want to license out

Unless the comics division was pissing away money like the CNN+ and HBO/other movie divisions, I would say they're safe.

Can't see them killing off dc comics unless it's losing tons of cash. Could see them cutting the budget if need be but same as marvel with disney dc gives them hero ips and stories for shows and movies.

I can't see them outright shutting down the comics division, but I can certainly imagine WB making some more budget cuts and trimming down the lines to only a handful each month over the next 5-7 years. The difference in market share between DC and Marvel, if news sources are to be believed, is just staggering.

I doubt they'd shut it down but I wouldn't be surprised if they did start increasingly licensing out IPs to other comic book companies

I think Wonder Woman might also be safe.

Does DC have to keep publishing material with her in order not to lose the rights?

    The cuts are coming again
Jim Lee said something when AT&T initially got to the comics division and everyone including Didio got fired
For a long time DC did not need to make a profit and nobody was holding them to task to seek profit. They just used the larger titles to subsidize the cost of the books that did not make money

The way Zaslav is moving a lot of stuff is getting cancelled at DC Comics
The idea that they are an IP farm is not going to slide if they aren't generating new IPs and the movies, tv shows and games are not utlizing any of the comics storylines

Don't know why you are freaking out. It won't happen. Stop reading all the Doomsayers 99.9999% of the stuff you read on these boards about WBD merger etc is all speculation and sky is falling. Take a lot of what is said here and ignore it, guess you can start by this post...But if you want to be freaked out by stuff out of your control and be dominated by the Sky is falling, then by all means, you do you.

Well Jim Lee told Hollywood Reporter that they will cut 25 % of their comics line. This happened I think after the first DC Fandome finished. So that's the reason you see so many Batman books now.

I could see them switching to all digital to save money on printing. That's sounds like something Zaslov would do.

They won't but they could shrink the non batman line down some more.

    YES

However that did not include superheroes.

What is selling is the diverse lines that other companies are selling. Books that nobody has an issue with and ignore if they are not reading them.

The issue for DC is aside from Batman books-why is it a battle to get anything else to sell?

Especially with some of the same writers who are doing successful books at other companies.

Why is Radiant Black succeeding a book with a new character and a spinoff book. Yet nothing can be done with say Shazam or VIxen or Star Girl.

And if it happens-who are some folks going to blame?

Jace Fox? Nubia? Duke? Tim Drake?

    Tumblr? Twitter?
