Default DC Next Dawn - August Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, AUGUST 2022!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    AQUAMAN #22
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by GEOFF JOHNS
    Art by JIM LEE
    “GET YOUR ASS TO MARS”
Aquaman wants Mars to form an alliance with Atlantis to either force Black Adam to reconsider War with the underwater kingdom … or to add their alien might to the fight against Kahndaq. Either way, he’s got to get Mars’ greatest hero, J’onn J’Onzz, back to the Red Planet to make it happen!
Atlantis’ long-lost space colony, Oceanid, sent Arthur a vessel: the O.S.S. Starshark. But the crew is… fishy. And by that, I mean suspicious. They’re not actually fish, because Arthur gets along great with real fish. These guys… not as much. Does this crew have Aquaman’s actual interests at heart… or are they about to snare him in their net?
And oh yeah, when Aquaman sprung the Martian Manhunter from jail… Lobo escaped too! The Main Man was incarcerated for offing the King of Markovia (see THE FLASH #30). This, in part, caused the U.N. to create the World Organization for the Advancement of Humanity: an anti-alien task-force that nobody realizes is secretly controlled by Vandal Savage. Lobo’s actions were completely disastrous for the planet… but he does have a Space Hog. Is he going to ruin Aquaman and Martian Manhunter’s voyage to Mars… or save it? Is it possible he somehow does both?

    THE FLASH #37
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “RAPIDLY UNCOVERED”
Barry’s cover within the World Organization for the Advancement of Humanity has finally been blown! Cheetah, with her animalistic senses, recognizes the musky scent emitted by “Marathon Man” John Broome - for only the Flash produces such a unique aroma of burned rubber, red Gatorade, and Axe body spray…
Taking that information to Vandal Savage, the appointment of a new head of W.O.A.H.’s Speedster Division is arranged, and this guy has experience… of the negative kind. You know him as Dr. Eobard Thawne - the Reverse Flash!
Worse still, Cheetah and Killer Frost oust Captain Atom from his position as Director of W.O.A.H. and frame him for crimes against humanity and sexual harassment! Now the Earth-wide and U.N.-sponsored organization falls firmly into the grasp of Vandal Savage…
That leaves Barry and ex-Director Captain Atom on the run and with no allies - until, that is, some questionable (and ultraviolent) would-be friends arrive!
“They call me Magog, and this is Peacemaker. The old ways clearly aren’t working anymore, so we’re starting a Battalion… of Justice! Are you two in?”

    GREEN LANTERN #37
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “HUNTING MANHUNTERS”
The Green Lantern Corps, as an intergalactic police force, was created by the Guardians of the Universe… but it wasn’t their first effort. Before the Guardians began empowering varied aliens, millions of years ago, they used machines. Robots. Manhunters.
As is common, eventually the unfeeling machines became too rigid in their application of “justice.” They came to view organics as inherently prone to crime and evil, in need of constant supervision… and control. The Guardians defeated them - or did they?
The enormous Manhunter Highmaster is two important things: (1) the leader of the remaining Manhunters, and (2) their primary manufacturing factory. Hidden on an obscure planet, the massive machine performs its ceaseless task: repopulating the Manhunter ranks. And it does this well. . Unfortunately for the Highmaster, Vandal Savage learned this.
The metahumans of W.O.A.H. - lead by secret members of the Light: Reverse Flash, Cheetah, and Killer Frost - are tasked with infiltrating the Manhunter planetoid and infecting the Highmaster with a virus that will allow them to assume control. With a legion of killer robots at his command, who could stand against Vandal Savage?
Meanwhile, the human Green Lantern Corpsmen are still stranded on Earth… but Hal Jordan had a contingency plan. What is his “Emerald City”?

The city that never sleeps gives Vic challenges he can’t solve by putting on a mask and punching some crooks. He wants Myra Fermin to do well in NYC, but for her to get a part (Siren’s mother, actually) in the Siren jukebox musical, he will have to do a favor for Ms. Lorelei Circe. Will Vic surrender his principles to help a friend? Will he even have to surrender principles? Siren will not ask the favor until he agrees to the deal.
Meanwhile, Cat Grant, stressed out show producer, is unaware of past issues between Vic and Lorelei and believes the two are going on as Johnny Carson (kids, google him) used to with many of his frequent guests.
Vic does manage to convince both cat and his doctor to allow a séance at the Dakota, which Lorelei Circe is very interested in taking part in.a séance run by known psychic Janie Welles. Urban Legends are what Vic Sage is about, right? It’s not like he had a health scare and is focused on his own mortality or anything.

    SENSATION COMICS #26
    Written by VITA AYALA
    Plot by CAPTCLEGHORN and EXCITER
    Art by ROD REIS
Inspired by EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS and ALEXANDER BOGDANOV
    “MARS NEEDS (WONDER) WOMEN!” or
    “CRISIS ON INFINITE MARSES”
Legends say that Barsoom, the world we know as Mars, is red because it is stained with blood. Those legends may be true, now more than ever!
After the fall of Helium at the hands of the White Martians, Diana and T’ars T’arkas journeyed to the center of Mars. There, they found a city of genderless communists and were captured while, on the surface, the treacherous Amazon, General Clea, used the Trident of Poseidon to overflow the sacred River Iss. That was six months ago…
Now, Mars is drowning. The whole world is now Iss, and with the support of the White Martians, Clea declares herself Empress of Mars - conqueror of the very world humans named after her new lover and partner: the god of war, Ares (the Romans called him Mars)!
With Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter arriving on the planet (see AQUAMAN #22), they’re able to rescue T’ars and Wonder Woman from captivity. But can they rally the remaining Green Martians and liberate the once-red world? And who is this star-clad blonde woman calling herself Wonder Woman?
Hidden from the view of mortal beings and gods alike, Enyo (Ares’ previous lover and also his sister) plots her revenge and supposed redemption. Ares has delved into many different Marses to bring forth many races and groups calling the planet home and wanted to place them at odds, making the planet a true world of war.
Can Diana lead their coalition against her arch-nemesis and her betrayer while also returning Mars to its natural state? Will the various Martian civilizations be able to co-exist in peace? What will it cost her? Spoiler Alert: A Lot.
Can Aquaman reclaim the Trident, a weapon of Mass Destruction capable of deterring Kahndaq’s invasion of Atlantis back home? The good news here is that the existence of liquid river water on Mars relies totally on the Trident and removing it will allow the planet to return to its current state.
And the Pellucidar-like commune isn’t beaten, merely enraged! It’s new alien chairman - the radical Star Czar - organizes a subterranean revolution! Will this inhibit the commune’s role in ending the eternal strife on the fourth planet?

Another month has passed in the dynamic Next Dawn manner, the smoke has cleared from the field of competition, and it is time once again to tally the sales based on YOUR purchases!

As every month, before we get into the units moved, CBR’s DC Next Dawn's editorial staff wishes to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our fan-made solicitation project. Whether you plotted a book, let us know which titles were on your pull list, or just took some of your valuable time to check us out – thank you! This game wouldn’t be anything without you, so if you had fun, tell a friend! The more buys, the better! And best of all, it doesn’t actually cost you anything!

Also, don’t forget to get in on the conversation and all the latest news at the Next Dawn Bullpen!

Now, without further ado, CBR’s DC Next Dawn monthly sales tally and voting results for AUGUST 2022!
