It's anything less than 95 years old. She debuted in 1941, so she goes public domain in 2036. Each month, another issue of Sensation Comics would become public domain, and the same for Wonder Woman's self-titled book. Of course Superman and Batman will be in the same situation a couple of years earlier.

Thanks. So the more time passes the more WW comics become public domain so at some point in the far, far future, even the Perez stuff would also enter public domain?

Yeah, but that's late 1980s, so it wouldn't happen until the 2080s.

The names will still be renewed and logos by DC, that also applies to the logos characters wear.

If the characters / concepts are still being used by DC at that time, can anybody use them?

Wouldn't it be more of a situation where those Golden Age stories could be reprinted by others, but not any joe schmoe can produce his own comic book called "Wonder Woman" using just the Golden Age version of the character?

Good question. I think it would be more a 'Captain Marvel' situation where people could use Diana, her iconography, and stuff in original works, but would be unable to call any book and potentially merchandise 'Wonder Woman'
Though im not certain of this.

Only the golden age and not the modern look. Because even when Mickey Mouse goes public onto his early look not modern look which was I think 60s

Could anybody make for example, an animated TV show named Wonder woman. Using only the material from 1941-1947 without needing permission from DC?

I think is not that simple though. Trademarks are forever, for example.

No. "Wonder Woman" would still be a trademark owned by WB/DC.

And even when the first issues of WW enter public domain, it will only be the stuff the appeared in that first year (so pretty much only All-Star Comics #8 since that came out at the end of 1941). You'd have to wait year-by-year until all the Marston issues would be public domain, which the most you could do would being able to put your own collections together without DC's permission.

But DC and WB did not create the name WW. Why couldn't somebody else use it? So eventually one could make a show with different elements and characters from the marston era, like using cheetah with the name priscilla rich for example?

Why do you think there isnt anything named Wonder Woman outside of DCs Wonder Woman?

Are you aware of what happened to Captain Marvel?
