What's wrong with just having entertaining stories about characters?
The very same could be same about stories that make no changes what so ever. What’s the point of investing money if it’s static the whole way. You can have entertaining stories while also going forward and not being “event driven” that’s why manga is all over the place and comics struggle.

People are talking what Zeb Wells said in the podcast out of context. He was just acknowledging that after his run is over, anything he's written can be overturned, undone, retconned, or ignored. That's the same for every writer and every run.

I suspect anyone who is a big enough comics fan to check out podcasts with writers is already aware of this stuff. It's like being upset about conversations about kayfabe.

And hopefully the same can apply to "no happy endings for Peter or Ben"

Happy middles will do just fine.

No. You can't say that. In fact that's the exact opposite of my point.

For the sake of enjoying the story itself. If I get on a roller coaster, I'm going to end in the same place I start with no changes to my life, but I'll have had a ride I enjoy.

    It's a mediocre Spider-Man run. They happen.

True but not worth rebooting the run back to issue 1… again.

I don't disagree, but it's just what happens in the industry now. They always relaunch a book with a new #1.

I’m surprised they didn’t switch the numbering back for 900. It just came and went like it was nothing.

    That issue was nothing.

Would you still think the same of MJ if she had been in Felicia's position? You seem a bit too dismissive of her, TinkerSpider.

If I was Wells, I would like to have to have something positive and lasting to leave as a legacy ( unlike say O’Neill). Especially because the first comic me and I am sure many people think of when it comes to Wells is Shed.

I’m properly and justified dismissive of how Wells wrote her in ASM 900.

It's hard to make a positive story that compensates for Shed though lol.

It can be done. Lots of Slott’s stuff sucked ( like Silk and Alpha). But he also did some good stuff like Spider Island and RYV. I just wonder if Wells has a story as good as Spider Island in him?
