Default Anyone remember what happened to the original Tian?

Not the one from Axis, but the original Tian mutant ghost town introduced by Warren Ellis - a floating community of Chinese mutants who once protected it from all outside detection until they all lost their powers on M-Day and either left or died. I'm trying to remember what happened to the actual city itself.....is it still out there, just....empty of occupants? If so, could be interesting if whenever the Tian mutants came up in the resurrection queue, they decided to return home rather than stay on Krakoa, but keep ties with Krakoan society similar to how Arakko exists separate but connected.

Considering how 1)extremely controversial Communist China is nowadays , especially in the “West” , especially since 2020 , because of Tibet , the “South China Sea” (actually the West Philippine Sea LOL) , Xinjiang , COVID-19 , Hong Kong , Taiwan , etcetera , and 2) how desperate is Disney ( to be fair , all of Major Studio Hollywood ) is in depending on the Communist Chinese domestic film audience for their foreign box office ticket/internet streaming/maybe DVD revenues , especially since MCU Phase 4 is no longer the global IP powerhouse it once was (due supposedly to franchise fatigue , among other possible reasons) , it’d obviously be business-suicide for Marvel to feature any story both for or against anything even remotely related to Communist China , which is why their ethnically-Chinese foe in Orchis is also apparently half-Serbian on his mother’s side (directly descended from Nicolas Tesla ) and is seemingly one of the global Chinese diaspora instead of an actual Chinese citizen .

I don't remember, did Ellis' Tian happen before the Ultimate Universe's Tian?

Yup, Ellis introduced the idea of Tian in 616 back in 2008. Interestingly, it was Hickman who next picked up the idea, introducing it in the Ultimate Universe in 2011. Then Hickman used Tian again in an alternate universe during Secret Wars in 2014, and finally the last time the name Tian was used for a mutant settlement was back during Secret Empire in 2017.

The half of it that was still floating should still be there, unless the machines that were keeping it airborne have malfunctioned in the time since.

Umm... am I missing something? The Phase 4 films from NWH on are on par with Phase 3 films box office wise and ahead of Phase 1 and Phase 2 films. They would be making more if China didn't ban Marvel for some unknowable shady bureaucratic reasons and if Disney didn't ban Russia for clearly understandable reasons.

What do critic's reviews have to do with the argument about Marvel's box office relationship with China, and the financial indpeendance they are achieving?

The city came crashing down after they were decimated and they all died. This was in Warren Ellis Astonishing X-Men

Only Everything , duh ! Marvel is forced to rely on the Chinese domestic market because in the USA domestic market and the gestalt of other countries’ domestic markets of the Rest of the World that is the global market in 2022 , the Hype Has Died/the Hype Is Dead, which is what happened to the DCEU beginning with Snyder’s Batman vs Superman , when it got critically panned all over , and what ultimately and eventually led to the cancellation of the otherwise already-finished BatGirl tsk tsk tsk

This is some next level reaching lmao yall been preaching about "franchise fatigue" since the first Avengers dropped and the same rhetoric gets brought up everytime a Marvel movie doesn't pass 1B (I'm being hyperbolic but it does feel that way sometimes) so you'll forgive me if I don't take the doomsaying as seriously and what pray tell are you comparing the Hype to exactly? Phase 1? Phase 2? Surely not Phase 3?
