I would assume Johns would've brought back some variant of his Legion back like he did with the JSA.

Can we realistically expect a previous (or slightly changed) version of the Legion?

I see the LSH as being a viable idea. A large team of super-heroes from different planets having different powers in galactic level adventures. The adventures are one thousand (or so) years in the future. The team is loaded with fantastic beings with amazing powers as well as with political intrigue and loads of teenage angst.

All that seems very basic superhero to me. It also seems like something that could be done any number of ways. The question is can it be new enough to attract new readers, but familiar enough to keep the current readers?

I predict that Johns will retcon the current Bendis Legion as being from the far future of the classic Legion. Which is what it seems like Bendis & Sook were originally doing before Didio got involved. So anyway we find out that the Bendis team is a team that was inspired by the classic team which is why they are so different but similar and then somehow forgot. I'm looking at you Time Trapper. Then the classic team returns and hopefully we can get a new classic Legion ongoing moving forward.

That could be an option but I don't know if using again the time trapper is the best idea, but he always seems to be the default villian for this troubles. Also, it will really depressing if the Bendis legion is the future of the Legion. In the 5YL the earth was destroyed and it was really depressing story. And having it again destroyed in the future is not the most motivating aspect neither then nor now.
