Definitely more powerful, but Otto's position is more precarious than his brother's. His brother's position (which is still considerably powerful) is far more cemented and he certainly knows that. Anyway, as mentioned, Otto is going to listen to his older brother who heads his family's ancestral seat.

So I don't yet buy any theory that Otto is being controlled by his brother. It seems they are two brothers with broadly the same ambitions for their House, and Otto's brother just reminded him to wake up and remember to use his influence toward the shared goal.

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

I found the entire episode boring. The brothel scene was gratuitous and the whole adventure in the city tedious. We are just waiting for who dies first.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

The brothel scene might have been a lot of things, but to say is gratuitous is just wrong- it served the story and moved the plot forward.

You are right, wrong word. But it felt like they were trying too hard.

You could have her and the uncle get together anywhere it didn't have to be The brothel so ya it was unnecessary.

I didn’t enjoy the last episode.

Some of the stuff in this is just lurid. It was the same thing with GoT.

To be clear, I didn’t have a problem with the episode because of the sex, I just found it a bit dull.

No, because Daemon specifically wanted her to be seen there- hence why he removed the cap hiding her hair as soon as she entered. Also, would be easier to arouse her with a lot of people banging

Yep, Daemon wanted Rhaenyra to be seen, becasuse he knew Otto's spies would be around and word would get back to Viserys, he wanted to hurt Rhaenyra's reputation just enough so Viserys would agree to the marriage between him and Rhaenyra.

It has to be someplace public, that's the entire point of Daemon's scheme. She has to be exposed to Hightower's spies so that Daemon can devalue her enough to convince Viserys to marry her off to him.

Now, did it HAVE to be a brothel? No. But it's a very Daemon spot, as they've established already. So it's very much in character for him. And, what I think you're missing from the sequence, is it is apparently in character for HER as well. Rhaenyra isn't like other girls in Westeros. Her personality flies in the face of convention. And her position offers her the chance to flout those conventions to a certain extent. She clearly seems to enjoy pushing the boundaries and breaking the mold. She ENJOYED the brothel. She wasn't put upon by being taken there, she didn't flake out and get all up in concern about her reputation or her innocence (though she probably should have, given the expectations of the rest of society on her). Hell, before Daemon proved impotent she was seriously into it. And afterwards she went and found another man to take care of her desires.

Rhaenyra doesn't really care what the world wants from her save for the practical limits those expectations place on her. Rhaenyra has no interest in the throne for the sake of power or control, we already see that she loathes the duties the crown place upon her. She craves the throne for the freedom it's power can provide for her. For the ability to be the absolute and final master of her own life and destiny at last, and not tied to whatever social norms or conventions have limited her or constrained her. In short, to not end up like her mother, whose life and ultimately death were decided on the whims of others.

Daemon has, inadvertently, done her a bit of a favor even as he's weakened her position considerably. She needs to learn how to play the politics. How to hide her true self and motivations better, and how to work people to her own advantage in order to better her position. Really, the entire episode is about how both Rhaenyra and Allicent begin to realize that, like it or not, they are both players in a very high stakes game that could blow up in either of their faces at any moment. Now to see how they each adapt to that realization.

She's a teenager in a world where there's no internet or TV with easily available pornography, in a night that already brought a lot of emotions and excitement.

The show is really hyping that dagger as the Targaryen Excalibur. It makes sense that they'd want to recontextualize one of the dissapointing aspects of GOT's ending, and probably the only one that a prequel cB really do anything about. If the Jon Snow sequel happens, I expect we'll see the dagger again.

I didn’t enjoy episode 4. Largely nothing happened until the final minutes and the King’s dismissal of his Hand, the brothel scenes was perhaps too much, I thought it was overall a boring episode.

Rhaenyra should have married that kid in the beginning. He was kind of badass.

I liked the sex scenes, if only because in the after show bit, we hear that it's a sex scene from the POV of a female director.

Well said. Their adaptations to that realization probably won't go well.
