    Default The next Assassin's Creed

There's supposed to be an announcement in September, so probably in the coming weeks.

While there's been many conflicting rumors the latest is that it's called Mirage and it involve the story of Basim, the Assassin who tags along with Eivor in VALHALLA, but this will take place before it and deal with his adventures in the medieval middle east, similar to the original game. Possibly even setting more of it up, perhaps. It's also supposed to roll back a lot of the RPG elements which have appeared in the past few games but have had a mixed reaction from some fans.

After the Duelist in Origins i had hoped that they might eventualy make a detour to ancient China in the following games, especialy given the fame of the failed assassination of the first emperor of Qin or political backstabbing at the end of the Han dynasty which led to the fracturing of the country into three warring factions for several decades. So plenty of room to have a traveling assassin be secretly involved in all kinds of events.

Though after how they handled the historical aspects of ancient Hellas and much of the viking age i'm not sure i want to see them handle that unused historical setting at the moment.

They might be scrapping the gender choice from the last two games, but I think it's mainly because Basim is already established as being male in all his incarnations. Although I wouldn't rule out something like Syndicate and Origins, where segments of the game had you play as a female character (Evie and Aya).

I will say, a lot of people were blind sided when they found out Kassandra was supposed to be the player character in Odyssey, despite it "being player's choice". Though, when you listen to the VA's, Alexios' VA is far more suited to being Deimos than Kassandra. The "loud and boisterous" thing simply works better there. Where with Kassandra, you get the more sentimental points better with her.

Alas, there's a lot of missed things with an immortal proto-Assassin running around for 2,500 years or so. Storywise, that is.

There was a Valhalla expansion with Kassandra showing up to hang out with Eivor which even had an extra Odyssey DLC as a companion piece.

But yeah, there's some potential for plenty of stories with what Kassandra was up to during all the other games, like her relationship with both factions, or was she possibly manipulating both?

Interesting this is there's also possibly another immortal in AC: Reda the merchant who appears in Origins and Valhalla. Maybe another kid of Kassandra's, except maybe he somehow inherited her immortality somehow? Or a similar Isu artifact?

They've officially announced it, probably due to the leak.

Yeah, I've seen videos about the Valhalla crossover. Not bad, really. There's also Conner Kenway, whom we don't really know about after the Revolutionary War apart from having a family eventually, and setting the New World Assassins back on the right path. Kassandra could have visited him because of the apple there or the ruins near where his tribe lived.

Reda would be interesting as a descendant. She already had one found the Hidden Ones in Amunet, but it would seem odd for her line (that had a few centuries to grow) would suddenly end there. So, not against it.

One character, only slightly touched upon, that COULD be an Isu, would be Merlin. Arthur's advisor and mage.

Always thought it would be an interesting story to have Conner face Shay, as they're contemporaries. Shay kind of also vanishes after killing Arno's father, but like Conner also had a family.

There's also some rumors that they're revisiting the first game and plan to use elements from Mirage. Think it's one of the few games that isn't playable on PS4 or PS5. (Ezio trilogy, III, Rogue etc. all got remasters)

Conner and Arno are also contemporaries. Got a whole triangle of possibilities there.

That could work too. There's also kind of a possible story there-in Unity's DLC Arno sends an apple to the brotherhood in Cairo, to keep it away from Napoleon who is rising in power. Guess who invades Cairo a few years later and is shown with an apple in one of the painting riddles from the older games, and becomes Emperor? oops...

Kind of curious if they rebuild AC I from the ground up I wonder what's going to happen with Kirsten Bell's character. The Ezio stuff was just remastered so I don't think that would be affected.

Or they could just ditch the modern day stuff and just have it be Altair all the time, maybe even adding the later parts of his story in from the portable games (and even revelations?)

One thing that could be unique about this-Basim exists in the modern day at the end of Valhalla, so presumable he'd be reliving his own memories instead of being a descendant (Desmond) or being hooked up to artifacts or remains (Layla)....or whatever the unnamed subjects used in the other games (Unity, Syndicate, etc) had.

Kind of wonder if Shaun and Rebecca are also coming back for the modern day stuff, since they returned for Valhalla.

    Well, there's also spoilers:
    Desmond's son
end of spoilers to consider. Been a thing in the comics, at least.

It's kind of odd that they kind of dropped the whole Juno storyline pretty much entirely which was a fairly big part of the stories of the first group of PS4 games and just left it to the comics to resolve. Granted, she does show up in Odyssey's DLC and Valhalla (As Hyrokkin) although in both cases these are flashbacks to the Isu days and not to her computer 'ghost' and the body they were cloning for her.
