September Book Club: The Metabarons Vol.1

Omar from the Uncanny Omar is always raving about Metabarons, which has made me curious about it. What comics/ books is it similar to? I am reading a "Dune" vibe from the comments here?

I'd say the Incal is fairly close. The Metabarons is a spin off to The Incal also written by Jodorowsky. The tone is different and it's more Blade Runner than Dune, but the Metabaron is a character in it and it may help with understanding the Metabarons a bit.

There's also the other spin off, the Technopriests, but I've not read it (it's sitting on my shelf however).

A Dune-centric Youtube channel I followed has a positive review of the Metabarons (which incorporates ideas from Jodorowsky's planned adaptation of Dune.) It does get to some of the appeal of the series, which is just very weird.
