I like Per Degaton but I hadn’t thought of the possibility of Mechanique. That would be amazing!

Though there’s also a chance that it’s Nostalgia. Johns is apparently setting her up as the big bad for the next phase of his DC plans. That would be the big Doomsday Clock connection.
The reason I thought of Mekanique (after some research, it appears to have been spelled with a “k”) was because she had “held back the effects of the Crisis on Infinite Earths” and then released those effects at just the right moment to wipe Robotman's memories just before he could warn the All-Star Squadron of her plans. She was, basically, the tool that Roy Thomas used to bring his titles in line with the newly emerging post-Crisis DCU. Which means that she's not “just” a time traveling villain, but a Hypertime villain.

Nostalgia is set to show up in the New Golden Age books; but I'm not sure that she's going to be the villain, or even a villain.

This was as blunt and in your face as it can get lol. And he wrote this in an issue co-written with Scott Snyder! I do think Johns doesn’t care about these events anymore, and to be honest part of why I might not be seeing it as a shot is I don’t particularly care about the “infinite Multiverse” or the JL “dying” either, both are complete nothingburgers.
Was this the same issue in which Owlman told all of the Dark Multiverse Batmen that they were stupid stories and pale imitations of him? I loved these little jabs at the event because I honestly didn't like Metal or Death Metal... too goofy for me and they ruined BWL imo.

Why is it that the majority of times I've seen the events of Doomsday Clock and what happened with the transition from New 52 to Rebirth mentioned that they only allude to Dr. Manhattan and don't say his name? Is there a rights issue going on? Johns is the only person I've seen embrace it (for obvious reasons). Or is it that writers aren't sure if Manhattan is mainstream canon so they tip-toe around it in case it is revealed it isn't?

I think it's the latter. DC doesn't seem to want to nail down a clear canon so writers have to be vague.

    Just writers way of writing.

Anyway noticed the Watchmen Earth may be from Hypertime.

I'm wondering how much say Johns will have now. I loved how he made everything uniform and connected with Rebirth, but I don't think he has that kind of sway as of now. Should be interesting...

Oh, no I hadn't! Where was that listed? With Johns doing that it helps alleviate things between certain universe existing but not having originally shown up in Morrison's multiverse map... Watchmen, DKR, Superman All-Star, and others may actually be Hypertime worlds and not "space"/multiverse worlds that appear in Morrison's map.

Watchmen being a hypertimeline was one of the first things that I thought of what's the notion of Hypertime got connected to what Johns was doing.

With the infinite multiverse back more of those worlds on the omniverse space side back.

Also Bruce has the flashpoint timeline in the snow globe. It wants out and back in hypertime.

The usual pushing back bussiness or they don't want to spoil something important this time?

Hard to say. Not the first time Johns' work got a sudden pushback. Maybe spoilers?
