Cresent City Blues from the late 90's is one of my all time favorites. It's only an over sized one shot but it had a lot of atmosphere being set in New Orleans and it would also allow them to pull in Doctor Voodoo.

Cool director, I just don't think he fits. But we'll see.

I love marvel studios not hiring well known directors.

Did you watch Lovecraft Country (especially the first episode?) How does he not fit?

Lovecraft Country was very good. Bottom line people will clearly expect blood and violence in a Blade movie. Skirting around that by trying to cut and trim to not be R is setting yourself up for failure.

R Rating movies are generally box office failures especially for a character who is overly serious and can't hide behind humour.

My only worry is that they will downplay a lot of the violence and blood that would mark a Blade Vampire Movie. The original Blade was fairly violent and it was a fun movie. I worry to fit the MCU they will trim a lot.

Yann also directed Big Brother zombie mini series Dead set which starred Riz Ahmed.
Letitia Wright (shuri) and Benedict Wong
(Wong) were in the first two seasons of Top Boy which Yann directed

If this movie goes into the horror direction then Mia Goth will be the real star of the movie.

I would say the first two original Blade films did totally fine with a hard R rating. This is just Disney being chaste as usual.
