I still don't understand what they are aiming for with GLs here.

Shouldn't that be Kylie?

And the Star Sapphires have the usual role of the Green Lanterns.

Thats understandable, but there are things like Kyle being male or there being female GLs at all if we are working from E-11 latest appearance. Or why they are being combined with Church of Blood.

No, last issue showed other corps and they had same "emotions" as in the regular GL books. Due to writers mixing up different versions of E-11 GLs in this book it is not entirely clear why exactly GLs are evil.

If green is associated with will, self-confidence, etc. it could be rationalized that the current Green Lanterns are focused on the unhealthy extremes of that. Those idiots who are *too* confident and convinced that they know best and are always right about everything (and get all angry if anybody disagrees with their glowing opinions of themselves).
Any emotion could be tweaked to be the base of a 'good' or 'evil' Lantern corps, since an excess of any emotion (or not enough of one!) can be twisted and destructive.
Too much love leads to obsession and stalking and possessiveness. Too much hope leads to that old lady burning through her food stamps to buy lottery tickets, or getting scammed by fake Nigerian princes.
Not enough fear leads to people doing stupid crap and earning Darwin awards (or, worse, getting *other* people killed or maimed with their lack of caution). Not enough rage leads to people sitting idly by and letting horrible things happen, when they *should* have gotten angry and done something about it, even if that 'something' was to walk away or speak up.
So there could be a 'good' Yellow Lantern Corps all about reasonable caution, restraint and prudence in a dangerous universe, fighting an 'evil' Green Lantern Corps all about an abundance of self-confidence and 'willful' (self-indulgent) behavior and their right to be rulers, because they know best and are clearly best suited to be running things.
I don't see why they need to change the color roles. It just makes things more confusing for no reason. The original Earth 11 had a Kylie Raynor GL.
