    Default X-Men Red #6 - Recap/Spoilers

Outstanding. Despite this arc being attached to a big event, it's already going down as one of my favorite arcs of all time.

We open with the Craig Marshall of NASA data page as he's recording what he believes are his final moments on Arakko. He's a soil specialist and the Arakkii have been nothing but hospitable to him. He's been tasked with watching Loolo and her brother, two children, while most of the Arakkii adults went to fight and haven't returned. He's preparing to distract the approaching killer armory machine to save the children when Table Day arrives.

Storm tells him they see him, Craig Marshall, and that he has a place in the broken land today and forever. Storm leads the charge, dodging the machine's lasers to get up close to it. Using Sobunar's released water, she turns the moisture into a monsoon, neutralizing the monster. She channels her anger into lightning and zaps the F out of it. She's angry and feeling guilty for not being present during the initial attack by Uranos.

She expresses this to her Table and Sobunar recites an echo of a legend from the prison era of Arakko. "If you weren't here, you were somewhere." She was fighting the same foe and there's no time to turn on herself and her choices. It's all good. Storm asks Lactuca to show her where they need to be to do the most good. Lactuca shares her powers with Storm in a gorgeous panel where Storm also becomes one with all that is.

Nova continues to fight, doubting and blaming himself for not being better. The Fisher King is joined by another person we can't see. Now they are to "fetch the third." Isca continues to fight Sobunar's fish. Even if she fights with Arakko, she knows she will lose because Uranos is still set to win.

The Brotherhood take out their foes. Sunspot has secrets and thinks it's time to reveal one after the air near him shifts. Khora notices a scent of jasmine in the air and knows "Night has fallen." She thinks of her father.

Cable and Wiz-Kid are aboard SWORD Station Two, trying to get it back online. Brand is emerging from a resurrection egg, Charles waiting for her.

Lodus is generating more metal for Magneto as he fights another Uranos monster, while ALSO keeping his heart/blood flow going. He kills the monster and tells Lodus they make a fine team. "Team." Perhaps it's time the Arakki learn this word. Magneto is struggling to stay standing when a brilliant flash of light appears near him. Emerging from said light is Sunspot, Fisher King, and new character Syzya of the Smoke, a teleporter. THE NIGHT TABLE.

Data page explaining the history of the Night Table. It's a lot so I can post it if requested. The Night Seats have been through many status quo changes but they essentially operate separately and secretly. Sunspot found out about Fisher King and Syzya, the two surviving seats. The Night Seats are unbound by custom so they agreed to make him the third seat. Omegas have never served on the Night Seats. Surprise!

Magneto is proud of Sunspot for making his moves. Fisher King explains that he needed to feel Magneto out to know if he was legit, which he obviously is. They shake hands. They discuss strategy and how it's time for the "old ways" to change. Suddenly the monster Magneto killed comes back, along with all the machines that have been destroyed. Uranos' armory will keep regenerating itself, there is no end unless they end Uranos. They're ready to fight the monster again when Storm appears and strikes Magneto with a lightning bolt in the heart.

I can't put into words this page so soak it all in. Magneto then brings forth molten iron from the planet's core in an intense blast that melts the monster, while Storm uses her control of climate and temperature to protect the planet. Outstanding!

Lodus: "Remember this moment. All rules broken for the broken land... Xilo: "And the beginning of a new hiszzztory, perhapszz."

They now know they must defeat Uranos to stop the killing machines.

I hope Xilo reforms his body to be bipedal. He would have such a cool humanoid bug look if he did that.

For some reason I thought Sobunar was more chonk but that individual is pretty damn buff and lean.

Because they made it such a point that the old ways are over, (spoilers for Judgment Day #4) spoilers:
I hope Magneto decides to return from the Waiting Room after his apparent death since his and Ororo's decision to destroy their back-ups was to adhere to the Arakkii way.
    end of spoilers

The moment between Storm and Magneto was just absolute deliciousness for the eyes and brain. I read it several times in awe. Gorgeous, next-level intimacy.

The Night Table blew me away. I did not see that coming. Sunspot is a star. And Syzya is gorgeous.

Now this is high quality comics. The twists, the turns, the twisttusion. It was just from start to end a great read, every page was emotion, emotion, emotion and the art rose to the occasion. The call back to the scene of magneto drawing Storm lightning from her and kurt having to teleport her into the ocean because she was burning was perfect and connecting her very life essence in a sense to her lightning shows why in some respects it's alive and warm (as thor once said in a potentially non canon story. lol). Inside her is a hurricane indeed.

The storm/lactuca moment was a good view into how lactuca's powers work and in essence she becomes one with what she is seeing and she can see through the eyes and minds of others and you can really see why she is an omega, most importantly i love how what she sees has actual context added to it. Having storm get into the heads and hearts of the people there helped progress the story issues imo in the sense that she knows exactly which members of her team she can trust without the need for the get to know you again moment as she was connected to them and it also added a slight bit of vulnerability to brand with her being brought back and her never feeling so vulnerable even isca, i thought it was both funny and sad. "she's fighting a fish." but she has no choice but that doesn't make for a good leader in any situation and thus her limit is her own mental and physical vulnerability to her own power giving it almost a life of it's own.

This was the hour of magneto indeed, watching him inspire the arraki, the conversation with Berto, the reveal of the night table completely being what none of us guessed that i can remember at least. No omega has ever sat on the night table and none ever will. Every. single. page. was a treat here. Wrongside feeling anger for the first time. Wiz Kid cameo and returning the favor to cable. I mean i literally would have to search my mind for what was missing here. Nova still fighting the good fight. Yes! This gets all the points.

This issue was truly an epic display for Magneto and Storm. It's one thing to repel an attack from Uranos. But to do it with a missing heart? That is another level of badass.

I knew folks would dig Syzya instantly! Glad to see I know my fellow X-fans and especially the ones on this board.

This was such a great issue. Obviously this was my favorite panel...

... but I loved the whole thing. The Storm-Magneto moments were epic! This book is just so damn good. Cannot wait for October 5th now.

Well said, especially about the trust between Storm and the rest of her Table. I love this trio so much.

What a great issue and I can't wait for #7!

This was a masterpiece. As a Morrison era stan I'm in love with Sunspot wearing the NXM getup too, so extra points from me.

1000/10 and Galaxies and whole Dimensions of stars.

This is what perfection looks and reads like.

I did not know I appreciated the Storm/Magneto friendship as much as I did after reading this issue. It threw me back to this moment:

Like why am I over here high-key cheesin' like a big ol kid after seeing them give the almighty war machine a big fat elemental finger?!

    spoilers:
Sadly it looks like Judgement Day killed off Magneto after one last massive power team-up with Storm? I never thought I'd see Storm shed tears over Magneto but damn if I didn't feel for her in that scene.
    end of spoilers

Was not expecting that not only is Bobby in a night seat, but that he has been for this entire series. I want to see a flashback of how that all happened. (Also obsessed w how his costume looked here.)

The night seats data page was a top data page of the era, btw.

I love this idea. I want the gargoyle dude, Tarn, Summoner and other dead Arakkii (not Idyll) to come back.

I really liked this issue. Funny how we all feared that J-Day would derail the book and the attack on Arakko would decimate them and their story potential. But Ewing subverted our expectations in the best way possible. It feels like Arakko will come out stronger and more interesting.

TBH I never feared that, I trusted that it would be good and it was lmao.

Also, I implore you all to go back and read Legion of X #3 again. The Khora/Fisher King connection was literally RIGHT there and I didn't notice or see anyone point it out. Love how interconnected the books feel lately.

I said it in the Storm thread, but I loved the "ultimate intimacy" between Mags and Storm. Ewing definitely was channeling Claremont I think.
