Peter David's Supergirl Was Canceled Before It Went in a Bold New Direction

Right now there is only Supergirl and Powergirl. And Supergirl is not exactly the same as the NU52 versions since the mutiple deboots.

I would not mind in the lease a story that brings all of Peter David's Supergirl run back into continuity, including both parts where Linda meets the pre-crisis Kara (once as a spirit of the now dead pre crisis Supergirl, and later as the original pre crisis Supergirl plucked out of time). In particular, lean heavily into the spiritual nature of Peter David's run, and use that to bring back the spirit of the original Supergirl and to infuse it into the current Supergirl. Let her be both, the same way that Linda's Supergirl was both Linda and Matrix.

Pretty sure Pre Crisis Kara, the Turner Kara, the NU52 Kara and post rebirth and more are all the same Kara now.

They did had Terra never died in post rebirth.

Could argue nu52 Kara was just pre Flashpoint Kara rebooted.

Technically, Linda Danvers hasn't been written out of continuity. She was last seen in Reign in Hell (2008), where she had reverted to her Earthborn Angel powers and found out to her horror that she was now a fallen angel/demon. As far as I know, she hasn't been seen since, and is currently trapped in Hell. Nothing has been explained in terms of how she came to be a demon.

It's also worth noting that in the fight between Linda and Carnivore (her last battle as the Earth-Born Angel), she was aided by an angelic figure that only identified herself as “Kara”.

Cir-El, by contrast, was revealed to not be Clark's future daughter, but a human whose DNA was altered to appear Kryptonian. She died in battle against Brainiac 13; and it's implied that she was erased from existence when Superman defeated the Futuresmiths in Superman #200.

Finally, remember that Matrix ultimately ended up merging with Twilight, who became the new Angel of Fire in the process.

If you want a follow-up to Peter David's Supergirl run, I'd be more inclined to start with an explanation as to how and why Linda turned into a fire-demon, and getting her out of Hell and back on the side of the angels. Matrix/Twilight could prove to be an integral part of that; as could the angelic Kara who had helped her once before. In fact, I'd reveal what was implied, that the angelic Kara was in fact the spirit of the Kara who died in the Crisis; and I'd end up having her merge with the modern Supergirl (who isn't the Supergirl who died in the Crisis).

If you're interested in bringing alternate timelines into the picture, I could see bringing Cir-El back; but I'd tie that to a quest for Linda to find her daughter, Ariella (Supergirl 1M).

My headcanon is the Angel Kara is the Kara who left after Convergence and it is a paradox - after she and her "team" changed the timeline by defeating Anti-Monitor she ended up going to the universe that still followed the post-COIE version of events (just like how Clark, Lois, and Parallax ended up on New 52). She stayed having her own adventures during post-COIE and every now and again we saw her on the pages of other comics (explaining her various mysterious appearances over the years).

Imo she has her strength,speed,flight,durability,and psi blasts back ,but the power she used against Xenon imo was a dark version of her earth born angel powers ,powers that emerged from her because of the sadness from losing ariella.i also think she knows they are bad and the more she uses them the more she is going to hell (non literal or literal ),so she keeps a low profile ....or tries
