Default The best cover that doesn't have Superman or Clack on it

What do you think is the best cover of a Superman series that does not have Superman or Clark on it?

The Death of Superman cover has his shredded cape but Superman/Clark isn't actually on it.

Yeah there's a few from Death of/Return of, that are pretty great.

There was a time when every Superman comic had to have Superman on the cover--even if he was just on a poster that two boys were looking at. Going into the drugstore, if you were looking for Superman comics, you needed to see that he was on the cover so you could choose that comic (you weren't allowed to look inside the comic book before paying for it). That latter day comics can get away with not showing the Man of Steel on the cover just proves that the covers no longer served the function of advertising what was inside the book. They could get away with putting anything on the comic, because people were coming into the store with a list of comics they had pre-ordered.

Now, if you find a Superman comic book from the old days where they didn't put Superman on the cover (not even in a thumbnail), now that would be a rare thing to find. Early issues of ACTION COMICS sometimes had no Man of Steel on the cover, when the publisher still didn't know that it was Superman who was generating the high volume of sales. Once they realized that comics with the Big Red S on them sold better than those without, they never let a comic go on sale without the Man of Tomorrow to promote the content.

The Paul Cornell run on Action Comics had quite a few memorable ones (Pt. 1):

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!
