Wasn't JJ's Constantine supposed to start a connected DC supernatural live action universe? It would be a lot harder to do that if they're all on different streaming services.

It might still happen. But I think committing to a long term series is probably the deterrent in Chimney's case. Whereas here you have a film that did make a modest return at the box office and Keanu is hot property again. Better to sink $100 million into a film than however much it would cost to do a streaming show.

I don't think a Constantine movie needs to cost 100 million that was part of the problem with the original they spent to much they can probably do it for a 50 60 million.

The 1st film cost 70 to 100 million and that was 2005 dollars, so I think doing a Constantine for 100 million today would be a bargain.

I still don't think it needs to cost that much you don't need big CGI effects keep it simple.

The money they spent in 2005 was relatively cheap. The reason it didn't do as well is because 1. It was Constantine (who wasn't as well known then to audiences as he is now), 2. It looked nothing like the Constantine from the comics, and 3. It was PG - 13 when most fans wanted a horror film pushing R.

I remember Francis saying they were kind of limited to keep it PG. But that, if they did a sequel, the crew would push to do it properly and make it R. Which is what I hope they do with this. Joker and Deadpool prove it can be done. Even then, no way a supernatural film like Constantine is made for less than $70 or $80 million. Joker cost about that much. Have to take into account inflation in the US.

Stormare is a certain, I'd imagine. He has been saying a sequel was in development since 2020 and he would know that only if they've reached out to him or he has reached out to them. Housou might too. The rest? I don't think Weisz needs to be back nor Swinton. Shia may or may not.

I would hope they lean towards horror than big CGI-fest. Constantine doesn't need Superman or Dr Strange level effects. Just write a good script for the genre - let Keanu do the rest.

Meh, Reeves is a terrible choice for Constantine, and that movie was pretty much forgotten anyway. WB really have no idea what the hell they're doing.
