I am kind of done with vampires.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

It sounds like a completely unrelated sort of vampire story that's just paid for the name.

If a person can completely and totally tune out the IP that it is based on and let it be it's own thing?

    Might be worthwhile.

    Otherwise?

The best possible version of this already exists, and should be left alone.

(Notable exception to the above being if the Refn/Brubaker reworking of Maniac Cop should ever materialize...)

(That said, it would probably be about like saying that The Thing is based on The Thing From Another World...)

Meh. Fan of the original, but this is more "inspired by" than really based on the movie.

I mean, not adverse to it if they do something interesting or unique. But both films were great as is. You can't top them.

For me, it's been a good 30 year run on Vampire movies. Lets move on to another great UNiversal Monster now. Maybe it's time to bring back Werewolves to the spotlight. Same with Zombies...MOVE ON!
