Obviously, Katherine Hahn was great in WandaVision. But being that Disney/Marvel go out of their way pushing diversity, doesn't it seem like a lost opportunity to cast the character as someone more age appropriate?

The unique thing about Agatha is that she appears to be an old, withered helpless woman -- much like Aunt May. Yet, she has power approaching (sometimes surpassing) the sorcerer supreme. It would have been nice to see that element in the MCU.

I know I'm in a losing battle of wanting MCU to be more representative of the comic book universe, but this feels like a huge missed opportunity.

I mean look at William Hurt as Ross. They had to recast because he died irl not sure if getting soneone who can die soon is a good idea no offense.

Yeah, I considered that. I don't think you necessarily need to cast someone in their 70s or 80s, but they could have certainly gone with someone in their late 60s. The casting seemed kind of ageist to me. Again, I liked Katherine, but it would have been nice to see a more age appropriate version -- which is what make comic book version so unique.

Do you guys think that they should make Agatha look really old like originally in comics, the newer old look or go for a young look?

I liked the original look for Agatha as it was unique and I never thought she was as fragile as others thought of her. Perhaps it is to throw enemies off balance?

I hope Agatha stays with her old look in the comics. I think it works for her there and it doesn't need changing.

As for the MCU... I agree it would've been cool to have an important elderly character in live-action, and honestly, they still could have that even with Kathryn Hahn. They could use prosthetics and make-up to make her look older at any point they want. I don't think they're gonna recast since Kathryn already popularized the role, but it's the closest thing they can do for a more comics accurate Agatha.

I guess they could show her aged at some point, and that would be kinda fun -- even if it's just temporary -- which it likely would be.

Marvel, though, looks a bit suspect when it claims to promote diversity, yet didn't hire an age appropriate actress that would actually reflect how the character has classically been portrayed. I think they take too much artistic license as it is, but they definitely missed the boat on Agatha.
