The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from the early 70's. Still shocking and creepy even in modern times. It's actually surprising how little gore there is in that film.

The 1979 Dawn of The Dead gave me nightmares for about a week.

The Changeling (1980) was very creepy.

    The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
    Equinox (1970)
Both of these films scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

Tobe Hooper's Salem's Lot (1979) is one the scariest I've come across. I showed my teen sister's young friends it once and I could tell they were thinking beforehand "it's some 1979 film, won't be scary at all" but they all had nightmares after watching it they told me.

I love the film and Stephen King's book (one of King's finest books IMHO). The film I love for its atmosphere, it's almost like an American version of a Hammer film, and I really love Hammer films.

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Disney classics. Some of those literally gave me nightmares when I was young.

    Alien.
    The Entity.
    Halloween.
    Black Christmas.
The two last mentions were a major inspiration for my own horror novel which is out in the bookstores of Greece for two years now.

Last House on the Left 1972. Not "sacry" per se, but definitely and a little sick.

Phantasm (1979) The ads showing The Tall Man hovering over that kids bed scared the crickets out of me.
Let’s Scare Jessica to Death (1971)

Phantasm is in my list of Greatest horror movies, but it didn't scare me. I think I was just enamored with the Jawas...
