My suggestion would be to read the original novel by Pierre Boulle. The 1968 movie catches the basic outline of the story but I haven't seen any of the film Apes that stands up to the book.
    Power with Girl is better.

Looks like maybe Freya's character might be the new Taylor (Which, of course, can be a first name this time!) judging by her outfit and "modern" stuff, although maybe just from a group of humans that didn't devolve, like the mutants?

Besides the "first" one in San Francisco, I haven't seen the remaining sequels. Are they all good?

The emperor ape leering, saying "you will die!" is giving me goosebumps. I feel that the last few decades we've gotten away from classic, scenery-chewing villainy. We've forgotten how satisfying it is!

    Yes, they are very good.

I think Dawn is really good War I think was boring and didn't have a lot going on as in no war however others seem to like it.

It almost looks like the original film, only from the apes' point of view.

The villain, Proximus, although a Chimpanzee, might sort of be similar to Ursus from Beneath, although Proximus seems to admire human's achievements.

Wonder if the scenes with Freya's character looking at the telescope and clothing might be similar to the scene in the cave/doll from the original.

Personally, I just hope they can keep making the titles longer with each sequel...
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Fall of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
After the Fall of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
What Comes After the Fall of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
