Default What stand-alone film do you wish had gone on to other sequels

There's sometimes debates as to whether a film really needed sequels or should've stopped with one film.

But what stand-alone film do you wish they had made a sequel of?

My choice - I think they were planning some sequels but the film didn't deliver at the box office like they had hoped. I really liked I Am Number Four

I wouldn't mind seeing other mysteries set in this world.

ZERO EFFECT (1998), directed by Jake Kasdan, starring Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller.

I can be a bit anti-sequel, but ok, I'll bite:

The Rocketeer is probably the biggest one I can think of. Of course I wish the sequel was made shortly after the first film.

    Others:
    Léon: The Professional
    Nice Guys
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
    The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

I'm coming a bit blank on films from the last twenty years for some reason. Perhaps because we're now sequel happy. But anyway off the top of my head..

    Rocketeer; already mentioned.

Flash Gordon; Really wanted to see this at the time.

Labyrinth; It would have to be well written, but I did want it.

    Definitely, my choice would be...

    Knockin' on Heaven's Door

If we're doing TV shows which got movies, then I'll pick Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me.
Although the Return was very much what we would have got if FWWM got a sequel.

I would honestly have loved to have seen a Big Lebowski sequel, but that's because I enjoy the Characters so much.

If we're also including movies that intended to have sequels:
    -- The Rocketeer
    -- Green Lantern
-- Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
    -- Buckaroo Banzai
    -- Lord of Illusions
    -- Domino
-- Big Trouble in Little China

Think there are some Rocketeer and Labyrinth sequels or TV shows in development.

STREETS OF FIRE would've made for an interesting sequel. Although, there's a sort of pseudo-sequel with Pare called Road To Hell.

Big Trouble in Little China. Just have ajack roll into adifferent environment each time for a new adventure. Trouble in Little Tokyo, Little Italy, Little..Transylvania. You get the idea.

I'm not a big fan of Jackson's Kong Kong remake, but I woudl have liked a Son of Kong-like sequel returning to Skull Island. It just has to be shorter and better paced.

Streets of Fire. The supercheap unofficial sequel fr9m Albert Pyun doesn't count.

The Last Starfighter. The evil Xur is still out there, along with the Kodan empire!

I was fond of this movie and wouldn't mind seeing more from the world and characters.
