Blaze & Ketch are the two with the best development.

To the utmost, I agree. Still love their '90s bonding sessions from Spirits of Vengeance

I'm not even sure how many people even know there was a Ghost Rider before Johnny, I only learned of him in a random post here a few years ago, and I was baffled when I learned that lol.

This was my introduction to the mythology, and I’m still in love with this.

I didn’t count him in because I recall in reading that he was only a Ghost Rider by name and not in ability (didn’t have the whole hell and fire thing going on) and also because he isn’t really worth being invested in since he’s basically been just a story tool for such a long time

At the time there was a Fearless Defenders title, all female, and I wanted her added there. That didn't happen and sadly that title got axed at 12 issues which was a crime cause it was good.

However since the thread title is about which GR is worth getting invested in there are really only 3 choices, two of which are neck&neck for consideration.

The movies bent the horse mounted Phantom Rider as being in the line of succession of the Spirits of Vengeance host Rider, not sure if they ever followed that in the comics.

Then there is also the newcomer female Native Rider in MIDNIGHT SUNS Kushala aka Spirit Rider.

But in the final analysis: Go with the Howard Mackie era Danny Ketch. His story eventually connects with former Rider Johnny Blaze entertainingly, however I think creating the familial connection went too far.

Johnny Blaze is the original but everything that is cool about Ghost Rider comes from Danny Ketch.
The west ghost riders and ww2 ghost rider never gets any respect. Both came before blaze.

Me too! As long as they kept it simple & didn't over-complicate things, then I was completely onboard...

I mean he's not one by a later definition, I'd say he kinda counts just because he existed before Johnny.

Plus there's elements used with Phantom Riders that still get used with Ghost Riders, like a relative possessing/giving powers, Hamilton Slade had that done on him by Linconln Slade, and also by Carter Slade, something similar was done with Reyes and his uncle.

Though yeah, as far as appearances and importance go, he's, kinda there, if even that much has he done anything relevant at all after Johnny? The only thing I can think of is a Phantom Rider who tried to do some mind raping on Bobbi (Think he did actual rape too), but that was Carter's brother, and wiki says that Hamilton had Carter powering him up afterwards, but I dunno how many stories that got.

Man, I had no idea this Blazing Skull existed.

Are there any others? Just learning of Carter was surprising enough lol.

Blazing Skull is a cool character but he isn't connected to the Ghost Rider legacy.
    His look is just similar.

There's the Michael Balidino Vengeance, the post civil war (the real life one) former slave Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance who is the Ghost Rider of the 31st century and the boring Ghost Rider 2099.

He is part of the 90s invaders limited series and reshowed up in the later invaders team us agent ran. He was a defenders member for about two issues before leaving and is in the lego avengers game complete with a hub mission.

Not really. The more modern biker leathers, chain and penance stare are from Dan, but the whole demonic biker with a fiery skull for a head is the main draw. Johnny's story and character is a hell of a lot more memorable. Dan was easily the least interesting thing about his own run. They added some details from the Ketch version, but Johnny still retains all of the stuff that made him unique..
