"At worst" is a weird idea, meaning even if it happens, it's not necessarily bad.

In the same way I find Spidey to have dated the Bobbi to have been weird, but the idea itself isn't bad, but the execution was ass.

MJ didn't have an affair, she flirted with a co-worker but there was nothing serious, and she went back to Peter again anyway.

She had a near-affair in the 90s during Conway's run on Web, but she was so emotionally distraught by it that she made it quite clear to that person Peter meant more to her.
