Default Lazarus Planet Event By Mark Waid and Others

Announced Thursday during the “Explore the DC Multiverse” panel at New York Comic Con, the DC universe will be rocked to its core in DC’s first 2023 event, Lazarus Planet! Event showrunner Mark Waid teams up with Riccardo Federici, Gene Luen Yang, Billy Tan, Nicole Maines, Skylar Patridge, Francis Manapul, Dan Watters, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Josie Campbell, and more, to transform DC’s Super Heroes and Supervillains beginning in January!

Following the events of Mark Waid and Mahmud Asrar’s Batman vs. Robin #4 this December, the Lazarus Volcano has erupted—spewing dangerous and transformative chemicals into Earth’s atmosphere, resulting in chaos across the DC universe! As these Lazarus clouds rain down upon the planet, people across the globe begin to develop strange new abilities, watch their already-extraordinary abilities change, and witness a whole host of chaos unlike anything the DCU has experienced before!

    Yeah, this actually sounds exciiting.

EDIT: And good business practice in theory, they're using the characters that actually have their own books like Monkey Prince or Posion Ivy.

Well, even though I'm tired of events, it's Waid teaming up with Yang, it has unusual cast of characters and it seems like Damian is one of the main characters here, so, must read for me.

Plus it will be done in a month so it won’t drag out for long. This is really how these events should be done.

It's sound fun. It's not a big event like a Crisis so it's a fresh.

It's funny to see DC use the same technique than Marvel for some of their crossover. A issue Alpha, many one-shot and a issue Omega.

Really curious to read this mini-event !

Who do you think we will have for the creative teams ?

I am interested to read this, but what I am really looking at here is if this is going to be Waid starting to provide some guidance to the DCU (if he is taking on that role).

Yang, Watters, PKJ, Josie Campbell, and Nicole Maines seem to be the writers.

I imagine this is what Federici was teasing the other day?

    It definitely looks like it.

Also, not sure where this image came from, but:

I am pumped for this. It has so much going for it.

    1) Waid
    2) Waid
    3) some of the other creators are very good
    4) It is an event but NOT a Crisis. No mention of the Multiverse or multiverses, omniverses, metaverse and Hypertime (in 1985 DC thought a Multiverse was confusing....what the hell is all this?) It is a nice change of pace for an event. I don't have event fatigue...I have Crisis fatigue.
    5) Premise sounds fun and the characters are different.

    Take my money.

Lol, Trigon and Nezha in the same event? I mean, it would be funny to see them sharing a panel, for obvious reasons.

Looks bad but at least it'll be confined to a month.

I'm here for an ecological disaster event starring Poison Ivy.
