Post Which Great Marvel Run do you think is overrated?

I know Chris's Uncanny X-Men and his New Mutants runs are one of the most classic runs that lead to the success of the X-books.
But for me, I think there are other great X-Men I can look through.

Do people like to talk much about Bendis's Avengers run?

Also, I think people talk too much about the Ed's Captain America run.

    What about yours?

I would say the Outback era (Claremont and Silvestri's UXM)

People here seem to generally think Jonathan Hickman's adjectiveless Avengers was great. I... do not.

Donny Cates' Venom seems to be popular. I don't really get it.

Around these parts, it's more of a renegade opinion to like Bendis' Avengers.

In general, actually, you get more negativity here.

The only run I find overrated isn't from Marvel (Watchmen) but I do think PAD's runs on Hulk and X-Factor, though enjoyable, didn't live up to the hype.

Claremont's X-Men run, from what I read is pretty good, but I feel Chris could restrain himself by not flooding every page in so much dialogue. Comics are a visual medium, you should trust your artists to help tell your story.
I enjoy God lives, man kills, which I admit is a great story. But Days of Future Past, while I enjoyed it, I actually felt like we could have gotten another issue out of this. I would like to see this World more, but it wrapped up way too quickly for me and it just felt like we touched upon this future alternative timeline. I'm not asking for a major 5 issue story arc, just another issue to flesh out some of what we've seen in this World. Actually add filler to make this World feel more alive.

Other than that, I actually enjoyed his return in the 2000's.

I'm that renegade, I love that run and I mostly enjoy most of Bendis' works (no being facetious)

I like Busiek's Avengers run but it's overly verbose and somewhat overrated.

I didn't enjoy JMS's run on Spider-man but people love it. I think it's massively overrated.

    IMHO.

Yep, I bought every single issue of Bendis Avengers run.

I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

That run is my Avengers run. While I like Hickman's more, there's no denying that Bendis was the person to get me into Comics.
His Ultimate Spider-Man may be my favourite comic of all time.

It has interesting first issues (Even if the Knull retcons are rather silly), but yeah, afterwards I dunno why people talk like it's awesome, quality dropped a lot afterwards.

    Bendis Boyz in the house!

But seriously, what I find overrated is a lot of Gillen's Marvel works save for Journey into Mystery & Young Avengers. His Thor and X-men (old and new) snorefest. Especially because the writers right before him were stellar (JMS and Fraction respectively).

I also think Ellis' Extremis arc was dumb and it shouldn't have stuck in the Iron Man mythos.

I'm not sure I believe a particular run can be overrated if we're just talking about its popularity rather than saying it's great writing. However, in the spirit of the thread:

Claremont's Excalibur run. I felt it leant very heavily on Alan Davis' art, something that really showed through every time Davis took a break.

Morrison's New X-Men is one that comes to mind for me. The whole Xorneto reveal was just weak AF.

Jim Starlin's cosmic stuff like Infinity Gauntlet.

Oh, so do I. But Bendis haters are much more common.
