The problem with him is that the Snyder-verse is a bust, and insist on it will only cause problems, particularly since the person playing Flash is a threat to society.

Yes very excited. Henry is a great Superman, love his look and voice, he just needs better writers and a director who understands the character.

    Reeves is stoic as Superman.

Cavill is just there, vacuous, bland, not emotive — a stump.

I haven’t. I’ll make sure to check it out. But as lead in the two roles he is most famous for playing, Cavill conveys all the emotion of a tree stump, maybe less.

    Absolutely.

Cavill is an Excellent Superman. WB just needs a writer to compliment his talent.

    Not really into Cavill.

They actually have the perfect Superman with the guy in Superman & Lois. And with the CW show most likely ending after the upcoming season, they could transition him to do a movie role.

    Guess not meant to be.

Happy for Cavill he seems like a cool dude and genuinely nice guy. He's a good Superman who IMO had bad scripts I hope he gets at least one good one now.

Edit: but for God Sake's No Kryptonians or Lex as the main villains.

Not in the least. Although it might be interesting to see him work under a director who actually likes Superman, and might actually understand the character. My mind is open to be changed, but I have no desire to see more of Snyder's grimderp.

Superman is NOT a Christ figure, for starters.

Oddly, despite my not liking Cavill, I enjoyed the Snyderverse.

I’m not going to tell you that the Snyder Cut was great or so significantly better than Joss Whedon’s Justice League. I won’t say ridiculous things like Batman v Superman or Man of Steel were great movies or even among the best superhero movies. But, they have a viewpoint I appreciated. Those movies had their moments.

I always thought Warners was going to have to go back to Snyder to run DC’s movies, but I never thought of Gunn for the role. That said, I think Gunn will bring a lot to his new role at DC. He’ll be at least as good as Snyder was in shaping DC’s movie universe.

I wonder what kind of story they’re going to tell with a new Superman movie, what villain, etc. It can’t be a continuation of the Justice League storyline. They’re going to have to do something new. I think this is going to be a fun ride with a Superman movie somewhere in the offing, and it has to fall under Gunn’s new oversight.

I downright loathe Batman v Superman and Man of Steel, and yet the JL Snyder Cut was significantly better than Joss Whedon’s Justice League. Snyder's JL was kinda good.

Life is funny like that sometimes. She falls in a well, eyes go crossed. She gets kicked by a mule, they go back to normal. I don't know!

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Snyder's Justice League had the benefit of a singular vision and style, rather than being made from 2 incompatible styles crammed together. Plus, most DC characters aren't quippy types, so mimicking a Marvel film isn't going to feel right by most of them.
