    Default Getting Back into Batman

I stopped following the Bat-verse a while back. I continued on with Nightwing, my favourite character, until the Ric Grayson fiasco. DC as a whole felt aimless to me and I lost interest in the rotating cast of new characters. However, I've been hearing good things around various recents runs and thought I'd dive back into the Bat titles.

My plan is to start with Batman #125 as the beginning of Zdarsky's run, Detective Comics #1062 as the beginning of Ram V's run, and Nightwing #78 as the beginning of Taylor's run. I have dabbled in the latter a little bit and enjoyed what I read but never fully engaged given my DC apathy.

Is this a good approach? Is there anything I'm missing or should skip?

Though I don't know how far back you stopped (to clue me in as what you might have missed), it seems hard to argue against your approach, which is just giving some main Batman titles a shot.

You probably missed some Tom King stuff and Tynion stuff, maybe Scott Snyder stuff, but I do not know what your level of interest in them is (or if they were part of why you weren't reading).

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

The recently concluded Joker series written by Tynion (15 issues) was really good in my opinion. It was basically a Jim Gordon book in disguise. I’d recommend it!

Yeah that's pretty good. All you need to know is Bruce moved out of the Manor after losing his fortune during Joker War, Alfred was killed by Bane, while Batman and Catwoman are taking a break from each other
Taylor's Nightwing run intersect with Tynion's Fear State for a bit, which is a follow up on the Joker War aftermath that leads to the rise of anti-vigilante sentiment by the new Gotham mayor, where he unknowingly work with villains influenced by Scarecrow, but once that's done it continues its own story.

Also we're pretty much in a new continuity starting with Taylor's Nightwing. You'll see call backs to previously non canon continuity, or old stories reincorporated into canon in the form of flashbacks as if that's what always happened. Some things are still unclear as usual, but the policy is to prioritize characterization than canon.

Basically whatever they say in the new books including the flashback is the current canon. The backstories are adjusted to accommodate whatever's the current interpretation. So really, just jump in.

Just read Nightwing and World's Finest.
