In honor of Veterans Day here in the States, what do you consider your favorite Military movie.
To me the first 15 minutes of the Normandy Scene of Saving Private Ryan really captured how violent war can be.
I saw that when it first came out and grown men broke down bawling in the theater watching that scene. People left and it legit caused PTSD in vets. So powerful and graphic and sad.
Movies tend to make war seem glamorous but Saving Private Ryan changed a lot of that.
Then there was Band of Brothers. The best HBO Mini Series of all time and probably the best military series of all time. The Pacific was good too but not close to Band of Brothers.
MASH. One of the best sitcoms of all times. While set in a theater of war it tried to convey the realism of war but knew what it was.
Being in the Army for 5 years I am so thankful I didn’t experience war. I’ve seen fellow soldiers leave and then come back a different person. It’s not easy and speaking to my friends it’s something that movies and such can’t ever capture the atmosphere.
What do you consider some or the best?
Thank you to all the Vets on the boards.
