"Iconic" The term gets thrown about rather willy nilly. What does it mean, and who does the definition qualify for the term?

Iconic heroes and villains are the ones that have not only stood the test of time but ones that have had large appeal or at least recognition outside of the comics.

Everyone even if they dont read comics knows the bat symbol and the Superman S. And The Captain America Shield. Most people who dont read comics still know who Spiderman is or will know the Joker Laugh.

I would say there are more Iconic heroes for DC then Marvel.

So Short List. Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Joker.
