Soooo, after months and months of waiting we finally get the proper sequel to the Red Sonja and Vamirella books that were grounded in Project Superpowers. Basically Dan Abnett served up a novel take on PSP that gave a good reason for Red Sonja and Vampirella to interact with the heroes, and left things on an interesting cliffhanger. And now we get the follow up on that. Don't be fooled by the book's title - this first issue is all contextualized by Abnett's take on Project Superpowers, and really good imo. If Dynamite is going to reboot things, this is the way to do it.

Really quickly the narrative is told from the perspective of a new character, who is a legacy version of Dynamite Man (who's also in it) and there is a multidimensional threat that the Project is trying to address. It sets things up for Red Sonja (who is so well done in this overarching story) and Vampirella to eventually take the lead - which shouldn't be a surprise. There's a bit of a sense of foreboding about things, but also some levity in the interaction of the two protagonists. This picks up nicely where the previous two series left off.

Really looking forward to seeing how this unfolds - and would LOVE to see Abnett get a shot at doing a Project Superpowers ongoing with this set-up. It's a sensible take on the characters and has a lot of potential (beyond letting characters like Vampirella and Sonja interact).
