Default If I were to publish a book with a character who calls himself "The New Yorker"

Can The New Yorker magazine say 'cease and desist'?

I forgot to add that this character considers himself THE ultimate citizen of New York City...in fact, he's taken over as it's ruler!

It would be a difficult argument for them, even if the earliest issues didn't recently enter the public domain.

Your main vulnerability may be if marketing makes it seem that your product is affiliated with the magazine.

Thanks. I was just curious about that. I mostly just do some minor cartooning I have made up at the print shop and hand out to folks at conventions. The local library as computer lessons so I'm going to see if I can learn to post my stuff on the net sometime.
