The Rock’s movies are very popular in China so I’m sure they were planning on that to be a safety net in case BA underperformed. With China drastically cutting back on the number of US films they allow to be released, Hollywood is going to have to reassess their plans and film budgets in a major way.

Black Adam was an unknown property and performed domestically about as well as The Rock’s other movies. WB just spent way too much on the project.

Next summer's going to be packed!

So, flash will have to fight spider-man, pixar and optimus prime opening day and indy 5 two weeks later!

If it got similarly terrible reviews I doubt it would have made even that much. People said the movie looked cheap, BoP got decent reviews and had Harley Quinn + other Batman related characters, still did terrible. Keaton showing up for a couple of minutes in cameos was not going to get people to go see it any more than Cavill showing up did Black Adam.

And like I said if it had gotten terrible reviews it’s unlikely to have made that much. BoP got decent reception and had Harley, it’s box office haul was weak. Did they make the wrong choice? Maybe but there’s also room to suspect that Batgirl got cancelled because Zaslav didn’t want to go down the route of making Keaton the DCU Batman. End of the day I expect he’ll simply pin the blame on Hamada for greenlighting Black Adam in the first place, Zaslav apparently never had much faith in Black Adam either, it’s the Flash he believes will be a big moneymaker.
