    Default Murderworld: Avengers

I checked this comic, and... is it just me, or this is a complete ripoff of the Squid Game?

(By the way, don't let the name and cover fool you, the only Avengers in that comic are killbots)

Maybe you are not familiar with Arcade but he's been doing these contests long before Squid Game was a thing.

Squid Game is hardly an original concept by the way, it is itself a rip-off of earlier stories like The Running Man or Battle Royale.
Tolstoy will live forever. Some people do. But that's not enough. It's not the length of a life that matters, just the depth of it. The chances we take. The paths we choose. How we go on when our hearts break. Hearts always break and so we bend with our hearts. And we sway. But in the end what matters is that we loved... and lived.

Read the first issue. It wasn't what I expected, but I was okay with that.

True enough, but Arcade was never doing squid games, he was just a hired killer with too much money.

First they had him aping the Hunger Games and now he's aping Squid games.

I really wish comics wouldn't chase pop culture like this, and let characters be themselves.

That gimmick can get old though.

Chasing around the latest mass murder fad gets old faster, IMO.

But isn't that at least partially his thing? I want to say back in the late 70's he was forcing people into pinball machines and amusement parks...?

    Giant death traps, sure.

Forcing massive groups to compete against one another for survival?

Not so much. He wanted to kill everyone in a theme park manner

I'm sure at some point he'll put two and two together and try to get everyone to kill each other in a murderous theme park.

    And God, that was underwhelming.

We lost well developed and/or interesting characters for Arcade to ride the coat tails of Hunger Games, and then be slapped back down to loser-dom the very next mini.
