I guess this issue will try to sort out the continuity a bit of the core characters?

Lafuente is a great pick for this book.

I actually really liked how Giffen tried to do it in his series, from what I remember.

And I still want to see them fight Byrne's attempted reboot version that didn't stick - whether as copies or alt universe versions of them, etc.

As much work that Chris Burnham puts into his art, doing both pencils and inks, and in amazing detail... he probably could use a month or two off to keep the same quality.
I'm really loving his artwork in Doom Patrol.

I just read the first issue and liked it. The only thing that threw me off was Batman calling Jane by her name when he first popped up.
Has he met her in her Chief identity?
I saw a typo, too, but I overlooked it.

Regardless, he's the G-darn Batman. Seriously, I imagine he either keeps tabs on any significant superhuman development, like the DP becoming very active again or he knows Crazy Jane and recognizes her despite the partial face covering, since not all of her alters has a radically different appearance. That’s odd Amazon is telling me this is coming out July 11th?

As someone new to the reading a Doom Patrol book I found that this was a nice break from the action that gave a little bit of focus on each character. Although not being familiar with the characters I do not know if everything shown was essentially a recap of what should be known or if any of the sessions revealed something new. I like the regular artist better for this title but Lafuente provided some interesting layouts to look at.

Degenerate and Animal Girl are new characters so this was new stuff.

For other it was mostly recap, I'd say new stuff was mostly for Negative Man and Robotman. Previous Doom Patrol run was by Way and he tends to drop bombs and move on, how does it all fit together? Maybe you'll figure it out on your own. So bits with Toxic Positivity, Kreeg and Robotman turning into child was Culver trying to explain how it all fits.

I'm not sure but explanation on how Robotman is a metahuman might be new too?
