It not unique but it is a problem. The Titans are the worst offenders of to be honest. Marvel does it too. To me its is usually better to at least look at the hundreds of characters sitting in limbo before just creating a new one just for the sake of creating a new one.

And the Avengers and the JLA. You could start a Legion size team out of brand new characters created to be Avengers that were never used again afterwards.

I actually really enjoyed what they did with the Doom Patrol in the Scooby Doo Team-up issue.

They used the classic team and had Danny the Street, Flex Mentallo, and Crazy Jane as reserve members.

Gawd, if there were ever something in need of a real re-boot, if only due to the profusion of characters, it’s all the X books.

They had a beautiful opportunity to do so with “no more mutants,” but they’ve blown the Hell out of that.

I'm the opposite as the wide cast gives X-men more versatility than other franchises.

The only problem with Doom Patrol is everytime they relaunch they create new characters that last for just that run then disappear into limbo. I think that is why I liked Giffen's run so much because he didn't do that. He had the trio then brought back past members like Crazy Jane, Fast Forward, and Danny the Street along with long time characters of the DCU that fit the team like Bumblebee and Ambush Bug. To me Giffen is gold standard on how to do a modern Doom Patrol book. He knew how to ride that fine line between DCU proper and the weird side of things.

I love Chris Burnham! I haven't been catching up with the current DC Universe since Dark Nights Metal, but I will definitely buy the trade of this.

Always loved the Doom Patrol. Definitely going on my pull list. I hope DC brings back the Freedom Fighters too!
