Default Mark Millar and Carey Bates

Here is a link to Mark Millar's You Tube Channel and his interview with Carey Bates, this, Cartoonist Kayfabe, and Tom Scioli's New God's Sunday School are my current You Tube Comic favorites.

I didn't know Millar had a YT channel. Interesting.

Yeah, it's really good, just a couple of talking heads without too much production design. So far, the Rob Leifeld, Gerry Conway, and Carey Bates interviews have been my favorite.

    1. Rob Leifeld is really like-able, Superman is his favorite character, and he thinks the Muhammad Ali Superman comic is the greatest Superhero comic ever.
    2. Millar considers Gerry Conway's JLA run his favorite.
    3. Carey Bates speaks highly of Mort Weisinger and likens him to J Jonah Jameson and Perry White. He also wrote a Superman story that influenced Superman Red Son, where Kal lands in Russia.
    4. Everyone should read Last Family from Krypton, Bates has still got it and he takes pride in the idea of creating stories that allow for a million variations by other creators.

I believe the name is Cary Bates, not "Carey" with an "e".

He had a remarkable run on The Flash back in the 1970s.

Thanks! I bet you are correct and they touch on his Flash run as well. Bates says he was heavily influenced by Frank Miller's Daredevil as he wrote the Flash.

Thanks for this, with Millar once again talking about doing a Superman project I’ve become interested in studying what are some of his biggest influences regarding the character.
